" merry Christmas baby, I love you " Travis softly whispered, caressing his fiancée's cheek as she peacefully slept before creeping his way out of their bedroom and heading off to football practice.
Taylor was nearing her 29th week of this pregnancy and she was exhausted, maybe it wasn't so much the pregnancy but more the fact of running around after a 6 year old and two 18 month olds in the peak of the football season, that was tiring her out. Needless to say, the holiday season had emphasised that, Taylor was desperate to make Christmas Day as magical as possible. Despite the fact that there was a game today, meaning Travis was off out the door early for practice and would be joining the family a little bit after 8am for the traditional game day breakfast before they all packed themselves up and headed to Arrowhead to watch him play. To some, this routine seemed weird, going out on Christmas and not just staying in your pyjamas, stuffing your face with food in a field of ripped up wrapping paper, but to them, it was sort of the normal and they loved it.
Travis left the house around 5am, to get all his training done early and Taylor didn't even flinch when he said goodbye. But her sleep was soon cut short, if it wasn't by their child residing inside her, it was by their children in the rooms across the hall.
" mommy!! Wake up! Santa's been! " Colette bounded through the door, clambering her way up to the bed
" hm morning coco, is your clock yellow yet sweet girl? " Taylor rolled over to face the beaming 6 year old, rubbing her eyes. The clock had been a good purchase a few months back and it taught Colette not to get out of bad too early which is a habit she had seemed to acquire.
" not yet mommy, but I was too excited. The twinnies are awake, I heard them talking " Colette admitted, grinning, and Taylor couldn't help but cave and smile, it was Christmas after all, and if Travis wasn't home, it can't have been that early.
Taylor pulled herself out of bed, her swollen stomach poking out of their matching Christmas pyjamas – another tradition where all 5 of them were matching and they got some adorable pictures – and she made Colette hold fire whilst she went to the bathroom. After quickly peeing, she headed to the twins room, them sat up in their cribs, hugging their blankets, pacifiers in their mouths but somehow still babbling away to each other. Taylor sometimes wondered if they could just understand each other no matter how incoherent their words were, like it was some foreign language that only toddlers could understand, but of course it probably wasn't.
" momma? " Knox's head looked up, seeing Taylor standing before him.
" morning boys, merry Christmas " she cooed, placing them both on the ground as it was getting harder and harder to carry them as the days went on, much to Knox's dismay.
" momma go down? " Noah asked cutely, their little voices being one of Travis' favourite things, they had recently started to attempt to say sentences, and it melted his heart every time, them stumbling over big words. Sometimes he often struggled to understand exactly what they wanted and often couldn't fathom how Taylor was so good at just knowing what they meant, but she would just laugh and tell him she just knew her babies.
" hold on to the railing if you wanna go down buddy " Taylor told him firmly, stairs being their biggest opponent recently. They had gates at the top and the bottom to avoid any disasters but they had an incident a few weeks ago where Knox took a small tumble, nothing but a bit of shock being the scare, but equally he was not terrified, always having been the more cautious twin unlike his brother that would probably take a leap and try and jump to the bottom of the steps if he was allowed.
