a/n here because this is
a super super long chapter
so brace yourselves! Btw never
been to court before so idk
how accurate this is

Court day. The day Taylor had been dreading since September. She was scared for what Joe and his attorney were going to throw out, what accusations they could possibly paint to make Taylor look bad. Trials like this can go on for a while, depending on how easy they make it, or the amount of evidence they had, Taylor could only pray this didn't go on forever. She wanted it to be over with and for Colette to be safe.

Taylor was also approaching 24 weeks pregnant with the twins, and her bump was well and truly there. She had popped recently and it was a lot bigger than she had anticipated when she looked back on being 24 weeks pregnant with Colette. Apart from the scare a few weeks back, the rest of her pregnancy had remained healthy and the boys were growing at a desirable rate and both currently weighing around 1.2lbs each which was a little bit smaller than preferred but equally nothing to worry about. They had really started to move too and Travis could just about start to feel them from the outside, although not for long because soon they'll run out of space to move at all.

Today though, wasn't about the twins, it was about Colette. Taylor knew that today she would do everything in her power to make things right for her daughter and she wouldn't be backing down anymore. Travis would be attending with her, mostly for support but he also had to be questioned as he was present the night that joe turned up at the house, so he is one of the only witnesses across Taylor and Joe's 5 year relationship and he promised he would be by Taylor's side no matter what.

" trav, do I look okay? I'm showing so much now " Taylor worries, realising she's near to not being able to see her feet anymore

" Tay, you look gorgeous, your belly looks adorable "

Taylor smiles slightly. She was wearing a black long sleeved dress, tights and she would also be braving the heels for today. She'd be sat down a lot anyway and so it wasn't going to put too much strain on her feet. She wore some light make up, nothing too crazy but just enough to make her feel a little bit more put together. Her parents would also be there to support her, along with her lawyer and some of her team, tree included as tree had the details about the agreed arrangement of posting Colette online. As for Joe, Taylor had no idea who he was going to bring out. She didn't know if his family would've flown in or anything, but I'm sure she'd find out soon.

The anticipation as they waited for it to begin was overwhelming, Taylor felt sick to her core, sitting across from Joe, who had some smug look on his face that Taylor very easily wanted to wipe off. As they began the opening statement, Taylor avoided eye contact with anyone, Travis placed a reassuring hand on her thigh, letting her know that he was there.

" Colette Finlay Alwyn, daughter of Parents Taylor Alison Swift and Joseph Matthew Alwyn, born June 17th 2018 in The Portland Hospital, London all stated on her birth certificate as presented, we are here to decide custody and parental rights of the child " the judge spoke " Mr Alwyn, may you please take the stand and explain thoroughly every detail you have of Colette's life with you "

Joe got up, taking a place at the stand " of course your honour, it all started when she was born, I supported Taylor through it all, she was born and I instantly fell in love with her. We brought her home from the hospital a couple days later, and it was all perfect. Despite the sleepless nights, I was really stepping up to my roll of being a dad until around 6 weeks later, Taylor kicked me out, denied me any access to see my daughter and every time I tried she would cause a big argument in front of Colette " joe's words cut through Taylor, tears pricking her eyes as she gently reminded herself to pull them back, everything he was saying was so so far from the truth
