Her personal assistant, who'd be her secretary if she became the CEO, Sarah Wilson, dropped extra papers on her desk.
“Did we get through to the company?” Reil asked, weariness sweeping through her as she knew the answer before she was told.
“No Reil.” Sarah seemed to be weary too. “The secretary wouldn't work with us, he's stopped answering my calls.”
It was frustrating how Sarah had given the secretary of the Rendox Heix International Company a lot of calls, telling him things he could gain if he joined hands with the company but he always refused.
“I knew this wouldn't work out.” She buried her head in her hands. “I can't be a CEO, I'm so incapable. Maybe I should focus on getting men's attention.”
“Shut the fuck up.” Sarah's sharp tone had caught her in surprise, as she lifted her head, wrinkling her forehead in surprise.
Sarah seemed to have noticed what had happened as she immediately looked away. “I'm sorry, it's just…”
“I guess it's okay if you have something smart to say.” She said freely, leaning back in the chair.
Sarah and Reil had been a little close since Sarah became her personal assistant eight years ago. Sarah was seventeen then so they automatically became close.
Although not close enough to receive insults or cuss from either one.
Sarah took in a slow breath before turning her gaze to her. “I'm just trying to say,” she sounded calmer then, “you shouldn't give up at the last minute, you must prove Bale wrong about you. Stand up and get this contract.”
Although Reil liked the way she said it, she knew it was no use. It wasn't like those words were going to make a company like Rendox talk to someone like her.
“Maybe I should give Greg a call, he's the best when I'm stressed like this.”
Sarah's expression darkened but she gave a slight nod.
Reil took a quick glance on the papers Sarah had dropped in front of her before, then grabbing her phone, she dialed the number.

Another family dinner meant she needed to let them know if she got the deal or not. Which also meant Sean was going to make a decision if she got the position or not.
Trisha sauntered in with Finn strutting behind.
Everytime Reil saw those two, she always felt pity for them.
Bale hadn't married Trisha because he was in love (something he was incapable of feeling), he'd needed a child so he'd come out favorable in Sean's eyes to become the successor to his company.
Trisha had been lost by money and power which was why she got married (stupid right?). Though she ended in a loveless marriage.
And as for Finn, she was sure Bale never gave him attention. Maybe only when he wanted to let him know he needed to possess the business gene to take over the company.
“Hey Reil.” Ivy said as soon as she was in, walking to Reil to give her a brief hug.
Though Ivy wasn't her real mom, she'd done her best to play that role which was enough reason for Reil to like her.
She wasn't hurt at how she'd come to the world. She loved her regardless.
“Hi.” She brushed her lips against Ivy's cheeks, as they both went to take their seats.
Sean was already seated before anyone had arrived.
“So…” he started, turning to her, “what's the result of your efforts?”
He sounded like he wanted her to have joined hands with the company. She saw the eagerness in his eyes though he tried maintaining a straight face.
Bale strutted in, hands in his pocket. “Sorry I took too long.” He said in his usual cold tone, then went to take a seat on the only empty chair, opposite her.
As she stared at him, she realized he was handsome, only if he didn't always have a frown on, forming a permanent wrinkle between his brows.
“Why don't we start eating?” Sean said and everyone complied.
Finn and Trisha just stayed silent as they'd learned to do. They only spoke when they were invited to do so.
“Uh, Reil, you were about to tell me if you got the deal or not.” Sean awkwardly cleared his throat like he was in her shoes at the moment.
She turned to Bale who held her gaze with what she assumed to be a smirk appearing on his lips.
“Dad, as I told you, she isn't capable of being responsible for a doll, not to talk about a whole company. She's incapable of doing anything.”
Sean just ignored him. “If you didn't get it, maybe you could start as an intern in the company and after a while, you could get your promotions slowly till you're capable of handling the company.”
She didn't leave her gaze from Bale, ensuring to keep her expression steady and businesswoman-like.
Her fingers curled round the glass of wine.
“Reil,” her dad's voice made her slowly turn to him, “did you hear what I said? You should start as an intern.”
He sighed. “I think I gave you a task too big to handle, sorry about that.”
“I think you should give her a little more time, she'd find a solution.” Ivy added, sounding so confident, Reil was truly touched by it.
“Thanks Ivy.” She finally spoke, turning back to Bale. “But there's no need for that since… I got the deal.”
She couldn't help the smile that formed on her lips at her brother's surprised and agitated expression.
“What?” Sean's surprise was beyond comprehension.
He sounded elated and surprised at the same time.
She pulled her lips to a lop-sided smile, her gaze still focused on Bale. “Yes dad, I did it.”
