Humans have a tendency to always remember their firsts-the first kiss, the first crush, the first love. These memories hold a special place in their hearts, whether it's the first movie they ever saw or the first book they ever read.

Just like that, the first day of a new chapter in life carries its own weight. Taehyung wanted his first day to be perfect. And it was more than perfect when he saw Jeongguk. Even if doom were to descend upon him at this very moment, he would still be happy.

He was elated, his joy soaring to the heavens. He saw Jeongguk, and Jeongguk saw him. Taehyung even completed the poem that Jeongguk had left unfinished.

Taehyung remembered every detail about the older man. He could even count how many times Jeongguk's smile faltered when students joked, how his brown eyes sparkled when he teased them, and how the lines on his forehead deepened when he was serious. He noted how many sips of water Jeongguk took between lectures and the number of spins he gave his pen when emphasizing important points. He remembered every feature, every gesture. He cherished the seconds their eyes met. Taehyung knew he would treasure his first university class forever.

All the effort he put in over the past three years-all the sleepless nights spent solving math equations and memorizing science formulas-now seemed insignificant. The pain he endured to become the Kim Taehyung he was now, the Taehyung who had risen from the bottom of his class to earn a scholarship to a prestigious university, was all worth it.

He had overcome the hell he went through just to pass the entrance exam for Seoul National University. Now, he was free to study the subject he loved: fine arts. He was finally free from the monster of mathematics.

His day went smoothly. After his literature class, he attended three more: art history, sketching, and digital art. And Taehyung loved every moment. The little bird inside him flapped its wings joyfully.

After classes, he spent some time in the library, reading. As the sky changed color, signaling the evening, Taehyung made his way back to his dorm, swaying to the melody of his beloved tune.

As Taehyung punched in the key code and walked into the dorm, he was greeted by the sight of his roommate sprawled on the couch, his tongue peeking out as he focused intently on a car racing game.

"Welcome home, I guess," Hoseok mumbled, still swaying his phone to steer the car.

"I'm home, I think," Taehyung replied with a smile as he walked into his room. Moments later, he was back in the living room.

"Care to explain?" Taehyung asked as he sat on the other corner of the couch, arms crossed, his posture demanding an answer.

"What?" Hoseok's eyes remained glued to the screen, his hands still moving the phone to control the car.
