Taehyung sank onto the stool where Jimin had been sitting moments before, his mind drifting back to Busan, back to a world where Jeongguk wasn’t real. 'It had been better then,'he thought bitterly. Because the real Jeongguk always hurt him.

With a shaky hand, he gulped down the alcohol. It burned, harsh and unforgiving, but the pain inside him was stronger—deeper.

This was his first time drinking, even though he’d long since reached the legal age.

One shot turned into two, then three, until he lost count. Each burn in his throat was a brief escape, a distraction from the ache in his chest.

The alcohol was strong, but not stronger than the hurt. Nothing could numb that.

He wanted the world to end, or maybe just his own. He wasn’t sure anymore. 'Why did I even fall in love?' It had given him nothing but pain. Love was a cruel joke.

With trembling hands, he downed what would be his last shot, the bitter liquid barely registering anymore.

He stood, legs unsteady, and began to stagger toward the exit. The room spun around him, but he didn’t care. The cold night air hit him hard as he pushed through the door.

He glanced at the bodyguards stationed nearby—Jeongguk’s men, around, watching.

"Fuck you, Jeongguk. And fuck your protectiveness," Taehyung muttered under his breath, cursing Jeongguk for the first time.

Even in his drunken haze, Taehyung moved with practiced stealth. Sneaking away had been a skill he’d perfected growing up in the orphanage, slipping past staff to escape into the night when things got too heavy. Now, it served him well. He maneuvered past the guards without a hitch, slipping into the shadows unnoticed.

Once on the street, he flagged down a taxi, his voice slurred as he gave the driver the address to his studio. He just needed to get away. Away from this poisoned world, from the heartbreak, and from the suffocating presence of Jeongguk’s shadow.

As the taxi sped away, the city lights blurred into streaks, matching the chaos inside his mind. All he wanted now was silence.

Taehyung’s eyelids felt heavy, the gentle hum of the taxi lulling him closer to sleep. He blinked slowly, fighting to stay awake as the city lights blurred past the window. Just as his eyes were about to close, the taxi jolted violently, throwing him forward against the seatbelt.

The screech of tires cut through the silence, followed by the sharp hiss of the brakes. Heart pounding, Taehyung’s eyes shot wide open.

Ahead of them, a sleek black car swerved sharply, cutting across the road and coming to a dead stop just inches from the taxi’s hood. The suddenness of it all felt surreal—like something out of a movie.
