✧Jungkook sipped his orange juice, the cool, sweet flavor a welcome contrast to the gentle breeze that drifted through the garden. He lay stretched out on a long lounge bench, its sleek wooden frame cradling him comfortably as he leaned back into the plush cushions. The sun warmed his skin, though the leafy branches above provided just enough shade to keep him at ease.
Across from him, Soha and Taehyung sat waiting for a designer Soha had appointed with. The embarrassment from earlier still clung to Jungkook’s thoughts, heavy and lingering, as the peaceful surroundings did little to ease his discomfort.
Earlier, in a fit of frustration, Jungkook had called Seojoon, his voice sharp with anger. First, to scold him for his carelessness, then to demand he come immediately. But Taehyung’s little prank had backfired horribly—Seojoon was hit with a bout of severe diarrhea, his voice over the phone cracking with exhaustion as he cried out about how many times he had rushed to the bathroom. More today than in the past week combined, he swore. In the end, Jungkook relented, telling Seojoon to rest.
And now, here he was. Sitting in silence, thoughts swirling endlessly in his mind. He still had to visit the orphanage. There were secrets there—ones he was ready to face. Then there was Taehyung. He needed to protect him, no matter the cost. So much weighed on him. The board meeting was on Monday, and he was sure they would never approve the collaboration with Celestial Heaven.
Basking in the warm sunlight, Jungkook’s peace was abruptly shattered when Taehyung let out a high-pitched shriek and darted to the side. Jungkook sunglasses slipped down the bridge of his nose as he glanced over, a frown tugging at his lips.
Jungkook watched, his jaw tightening, as Taehyung threw himself into another man's arms, laughing and hugging him like they know each other for centuries. Jungkook poked his tongue inside his cheek, fighting back the sharp stab of irritation. Was he going to stay quiet? Hell no.
With a deliberate motion, he set his glass down on the table and strode over to the duo, his eyes fixed on the back of Taehyung’s head. He barely noticed the warmth of the sun anymore, his focus solely on them.
Taehyung was practically beaming as he embraced the man, oblivious to the storm brewing behind him. Without a word, Jungkook grabbed the back of Taehyung’s t-shirt and pulled him back, the force not enough to hurt but enough to make a point.
Taehyung scoffed, rolling his eyes as he shot Jungkook an irritated glance, clearly unimpressed by the sudden intrusion.
Jungkook clenched his fists, his gaze narrowing as it landed on the man standing before him. He took a sharp breath, trying to steady himself.
"Not in front of Tae. Not here." Jungkook repeated the mantra in his mind like a prayer, forcing himself to stay in control.
Wooshik smirked at jungkook, and then his eyes slided over to Taehyung with a look that made Jungkook's blood boil even more.
