Jeongguk and Jungkook shared a deeply beautiful relationship, one that transcended the mere connection of blood. As twins, their bond began long before they entered the world, having shared the same womb at the same time.

Over the years, they protected each other from the outside world, finding all the friendship they needed in each other. They were enough for one another, never feeling the need for outsiders.

Their bond was so strong that the brothers never truly fought in their 25 years of life—no small arguments, no major clashes. Though they would occasionally bicker playfully, their relationship wasn’t always sweet like any siblings, they would push each other's limits.

But now, this very bond was causing Jeongguk pain. His brother was ignoring him. Every time Jeongguk tried to start a conversation, Jungkook would dismiss him. Jeongguk knew it wasn’t just about Kang Chanyeol. There was something deeper, something his brother was refusing to open up about.

So Jeongguk found himself standing outside Jungkook's room in the dead of night, his heart heavy with unresolved tension.

There was only one day left before his engagement, and he knew he couldn’t let things continue this way. Taking a deep breath, he quietly pushed the door open, his steps hesitant as he entered the room.

“Kook... are you awake?” Jeongguk’s voice was soft, almost trembling. Even as the words left his lips, he felt foolish—of course, his brother would be sleeping.

“That’s what normal people do, Gguk,” came the sharp reply, Jungkook’s voice carrying the sting of sarcasm. Jeongguk winced; the coldness in his brother’s tone cut deeper than he expected.

Jeongguk took a few steps closer, his gaze fixed on the silhouette of his twin under the dim light. “I’m sorry, okay? I’m sorry for lashing out at you. Please... don’t punish me like this.” His voice broke, the vulnerability raw and unguarded as he sat on the edge of the bed. Jungkook shifted slightly, making room for him silently.

They lay there in silence, facing each other, with only the soft glow of moonlight streaming through the window. The light fell gently on their faces, highlighting the shared features that made them seem like reflections of one another.

“He did something so wrong,” Jungkook finally broke the silence, his voice raw with the weight of what he’d witnessed.

Jeongguk felt his heart tighten at the anguish in his brother’s voice. “That night... that party... I saw how he poured powder into that innocent boy’s Coke,” Jungkook continued, his voice cracking as the memory replayed in his mind. The boy had just wanted to avoid alcohol, to stay safe, and yet that act had tainted even that small comfort.

“I know, Kook. You’re right. But let’s not talk about it now, please,” Jeongguk responded, his voice soft but firm, trying to steer them away from the darkness that threatened to consume them.
