✧Fate seemed to favor Taehyung when Jungkook left Seoul, like the universe was aligning itself with his plans. With one less person to keep in check.
Earlier that day, he had perfected his act—whining just enough to sound genuine, complaining about how much he missed cooking for himself. Beneath the surface, though, his every movement was calculated, his every word laced with hidden intentions.
In the kitchen, he worked methodically, preparing a dish with practiced precision, carefully grinding the pills into a fine powder. Just the right amount—enough to lull Seojoon and Yiseo into a deep, temporary sleep. It was a delicate dance between trust and deception, and Taehyung moved through it effortlessly.
When the meal was finally served, beautifully arranged on the table, Taehyung slipped into his role flawlessly. He wore a mask of innocence, eyes wide and voice trembling just enough to sell the lie. “I’m really not that hungry anymore,” he murmured, glancing down at the food with a feigned sigh. “I think I’m full from tasting while I was cooking.”
Yiseo raised a skeptical eyebrow, her gaze narrowing as she studied Taehyung. She knew all too well about his recent culinary ventures with Jungkook—disasters disguised as attempts to bond—and the mishaps that followed each time. But as Taehyung’s wide, teary eyes met hers, his lips quivering ever so slightly, the wall of doubt she’d built began to crumble. There was something disarming about the innocence he portrayed, a subtle vulnerability that tugged at her heart despite herself.
“Are you sure, Taehyung?” Seojoon’s voice was gentle, concern softening his features. He glanced at the meticulously prepared dish in front of them. “You worked hard on this. It looks amazing.”
Taehyung’s eyes flickered with desperation, but he masked it quickly behind a dramatic pout. “Please? I promise I’ll eat later. I’m just really not hungry right now. But I made it with so much love—please, enjoy it,” he pleaded, his voice wavering just enough to sound sincere.
Yiseo exchanged a glance with Seojoon, a silent conversation passing between them. Finally, she sighed, reluctant but giving in. “Alright,” she muttered, her tone softened with resignation. “If that’s what you want, we’ll eat. But you have to promise you’ll eat something later.”
Taehyung’s heart pounded in his chest as he watched them begin to eat, every chew feeling like a step closer to the freedom he craved. His pulse quickened, adrenaline humming through his veins. The plan was unfolding perfectly, and he savored the small victory, watching them unknowingly play right into his hands.
It wasn’t long before Seojoon and Yiseo succumbed to the effects of the sleeping pills, their heads gently slumping forward as they drifted into a deep, unshakable slumber at the dining table. The soft clinking of silverware ceased, replaced by the rhythmic sound of their slow, steady breathing. Taehyung's heart raced, adrenaline surging through him as he realized the moment had finally arrived.
