✧Intoxication
Intoxication is a very strange thing. Strange to us humans. Some drink alcohol for fun, to loosen up and enjoy the night. For others, it's a way to numb the pain. Some people need alcohol because it's become an addiction, a crutch they can’t let go of. Others use it to feel more confident, to boost themselves.
But how can anyone savor it, knowing the consequences? You are yourself, yet not quite yourself when you're intoxicated.
Taehyung woke up early in the morning. It wasn’t the usual morning for him, the kind where he'd feel like a little bird, happy and chirping with the first light of day. This morning was different. His head throbbed as if someone were pounding on it with a hammer.
Even in the soft, comfortable light, he had to squint his eyes, struggling to focus on his surroundings. His memories felt like fragments of broken glass, each one more painful than the last. The pounding in his head intensified, and he buried his face in his hands, trying to steady himself. A flash of memory pierced through the fog—Jeongguk's face, clear and close.
"You spiked his drink."
The words echoed in his mind, reverberating with a dull throb. The last thing he remembered was seeing his lover’s face, and then—nothing. Everything had gone dark, like a black, pitch-deep void swallowing him whole.
Jeongguk. The name echoed again, a whisper that sent panic surging through Taehyung’s veins. Where am I? What did I do? His eyes darted around the room frantically. He was in a place that looked too luxurious, too expensive to be real. Am I in heaven? Is this the afterlife?
Taehyung's eyes widened as he looked down at his clothes. They weren’t the same ones he had worn last night. His heartbeat quickened. 'What did I do? Was it the drink that affected me?'
Before his thoughts could spiral further and give him a heart attack from overthinking, his eyes fell on a note placed beside a glass of juice and some medicine on the bedside table. He quickly grabbed the note, his hands trembling slightly.
“Take the medicine and drink the juice. It’ll help with the hangover. Don’t worry about your clothes. I changed them, but I swear I didn’t look. I just helped you change. After taking the medicine, dial the number, and the server will come. You’ll eat breakfast and freshen up. It’s my order.
— J.”
“J?” Taehyung murmured, biting his lip. 'Who even writes such a lengthy note?
' Despite his confusion, a small smile crept onto his lips. Well, it was an order, and he had to follow it like a good boy. After taking the medicine, he dialed the number as instructed.Moments later, a server arrived with a lavish breakfast spread that Taehyung had never seen in his eighteen years of life. He began to munch on the food, savoring each bite.
