The shrill wail of sirens pierced through the suffocating silence that clung to the night, as if the world itself held its breath. Red and blue lights flickered, casting harsh shadows over the mangled wreckage.

The air was thick with scent of gasoline and smoke lingering as medics and police scrambled into action, their hurried footsteps opposite to the stillness that enveloped the scene just moments before.

Taehyung was slumped in the driver's seat, his face pale, blood trickling from a wound on his forehead. A medic gently pulled him out, laying him on a stretcher as the blood smeared onto their gloves. His breaths were shallow, barely noticeable amidst the chaos.

On passenger seat , a man lay still-motionless and almost unrecognizable. The accident had disfigured both face and form beyond recognition. But amidst the twisted wreckage, a small detail stood out. A ring on one finger, unmistakable in its familiarity, silently revealed the boy's identity.

Medics moved with grim efficiency, lifting the two bodies into the ambulance, while the police surveyed the scene. Their faces were hard, practiced, the weight of their experience evident.

"No one in the truck," one officer said, his voice steady, despite the chaos. "Looks like a hit and run. Driver fled."

Another officer, taking notes, barely looked up. "Check the CCTV cameras around the area," he muttered, the command delivered with a calm detachment, a tone that came from years of dealing with the aftermath of tragedy.

Chaos erupted in the Jeon household the moment they received the news of Jungkook's accident. What was supposed to be a night of celebration had twisted into a nightmare, morphing joy into unbearable agony.

Jeongguk had been with them only an hour earlier, laughing and alive. Jeon Sungmin was even preparing to give a speech in his honor. Now, all those plans lay in ruins. The family rushed into their sleek black cars, their hearts pounding with the desperate hope that somehow, they could reach the hospital in seconds, in time to fix what had been broken.

At the hospital, they were met with grim news. "You need to confirm the body," the doctor said. "It's not in a state where we can easily identify who it belongs to. We'll run DNA tests if you're unable to confirm."

Somi let out a piercing scream, her legs giving way as she collapsed. Jimin caught her just in time, though his own body shook with sobs, his face drenched in tears. Yoongi stood a few feet away, staring blankly into space, his lips twitching slightly as if tasting the bitterness of the moment.

It was supposed to be a mere formality. Though the body was unrecognizable, too ravaged by the accident, the clothes, the ring-it all belonged to Jeongguk. They didn't need further proof. But even so, facing the cold reality was something none of them were ready for.

"I'll see him," Jeon Sungmin mumbled, clinging to the faint hope that his son could still be alive.

With trembling hands and a heart heavy with dread, Sungmin entered the cold room. The air was icy, but the weight on his chest was suffocating. Slowly, shakily, he pulled back the white sheet, his breath catching in his throat. What lay before him was not the vibrant boy he knew, but a body broken and mangled by the accident-unrecognizable, except for the ring on his finger.
