Taehyung let out an exasperated groan as he stared at the ringing phone, but Jisoo’s name remained unanswered. It had been a week since that chaotic day in Jungkook’s room, and the tension still lingered in the air.

The day after everything happened, Jungkook had given him a new phone—a half-hearted apology for keeping him locked away. Taehyung had scoffed at the gesture, but he had accepted it. He wasn’t stupid enough to let a functional phone not to mention a brand new iPhone set to slip away, especially when it was a lifeline.

Now, on the second day of trying to reach Jisoo, he felt a sense of unease creeping in. Their relationship had been strained since the engagement, and he had built walls around his heart to shield himself from the pain. But over time, Jisoo had slowly chipped away at those walls, her kindness and genuine nature reaching him in ways he hadn’t expected. She had even apologized for the situation, but Taehyung had thought it unnecessary; her mere presence and understanding were enough to comfort him.

He had watched her flourish, realizing why Jeongguk had always been drawn to her. Jisoo was not just beautiful; she was intelligent and talented, a remarkable teacher in the subjects he had taken from her. Her artistic skills were impressive, and Taehyung found himself admiring her from afar, even as it hurt to see her occupy the place he had once hoped to have.

But now, concern gnawed at him. They hadn’t spoken since that fateful day at the Jeon house, where they had shared a silent embrace, both grieving their losses without words. Taehyung could sense that something was off, and the thought of Jisoo struggling alone made his heart ache.

Taehyung decided enough was enough. He would go to her, check on her, and see for himself how she was doing. Grabbing his jacket, he took a deep breath, steeling himself for whatever lay ahead. He had to know if she was alright.

It wasn’t the first time Taehyung had come here, but today felt different. He was still grappling with his own feelings about everything that had happened, especially with Jungkook. But Seojoon’s incessant shadowing was a reality he had come to accept, even if it irked him. The bodyguard was ever-present, always trailing behind him like a shadow, making it nearly impossible to find any moment of privacy.

As he stepped into the villa, Taehyung made his way to the maid stationed near the entrance. “Is Jisoo noona home?” he asked, trying to mask his urgency with a casual tone.

The maid nodded politely, her head bowing slightly. “She is in her room,” she replied.

“Thank you,” he said, appreciating her assistance before striding upstairs. Taehyung had never understood the obsession with these sprawling homes. They felt more like mazes than residences, and he found himself wishing he didn’t have to run a marathon just to reach her room.
