Thump.

Thump.

Thump.

Taehyung had desperately clung to the hope that Jeongguk was alive, his mind refusing to accept the truth for days. But as he walked down the corridor, each step felt like a lead weight, dragging him closer to the reality he dreaded. His heart pounded painfully, rising into his throat, threatening to choke him.

Thump.

Step.

Thump.

Step.

Then he saw it: Jeongguk’s picture framed by delicate flowers, each petal a reminder of the love he had, now overshadowed by an insurmountable loss. It felt unreal, like a nightmare from which he couldn’t wake.

Jisoo, Jimin, and Somi were gathered around casket , tears streaming down their faces, their grief palpable. They mourned in front of the casket, and the sight tore at Taehyung’s heart, unraveling the fragile threads of hope he had clung to.

Jeongguk .

Jeongguk .

Jeongguk.

With trembling legs, Taehyung approached the casket, sinking to the floor. He had never faced death before; no one close to him had ever left him like this. But now, the unthinkable had happened: Jeongguk was gone.

Jeongguk was dead.

Why? Why did it have to be him?

He traced his fingers over the smooth wood of the casket, feeling the finality in the cold touch. "Jeongguk, why are you sleeping?" His voice was a fragile whisper, cracking under the weight of his despair.

"Please wake up. I promise... I’ll never upset you again." Tears flowed freely now, his heart breaking with each word. "I’ll wake up on time. I’ll eat without excuses. Please, Gguk, just wake up."

His sobs echoed in the silence, desperation spilling from his lips. "You said I wasn’t an orphan. You said I had you. Why are you leaving me?"

"Don’t make me an orphan again, Jeongguk," he pleaded, each word piercing deeper into his soul. "If you go away, I’ll be lost. I can’t do this without you."

As he spoke, Somi’s anguished cry filled the air, and she embraced Taehyung in her arms, her grief intertwining with his. She had lost her son, and the raw pain of that loss echoed in his heart, amplifying his own despair.

Jungkook stood at a distance, paralyzed by his own anguish. This was the funeral of the one person he had shared everything with: laughter, tears, dreams. His brother, his twin, the one person who understood him completely. Now, he was gone, leaving a void that felt insurmountable.
