STAR'S POV

"Come on Star." Kass begs me to end the silent treatment. "I've tried to get in touch with you for the past two weeks or so. You can't ignore me any longer."

"It has hardly even been a week. Please, let's get through this meeting." As the two of us wait for everyone else in a conference room, I say.

"Wow you can speak."

"If you think being sarcastic with me is going to help, you are so delusional."

"I know you're mad at me but we need to work through this."

"Do we?"

"I am your manager, so yes."

There is a growing crowd in the conference room. We start after everyone is seated.

"We all know why we're here today." says Kass. "Would you like to explain." She directs the attention to me.

"Sure." I huff and stand up. "As we've seen following my break up with Jacob Elordi, another of my ex's took it upon herself to 'expose' me." I air quote the term "expose."

"So what is and isn't true?" Someone from PR questions.

"It's true that we were together and that she also dated Ian but she twisted the whole story." I clarify.

Since going through a public break up isn't enough, my ex has come out and distorted our story entirely.

She said that I had cheated on her with Ian. And she's including Dallas in the narrative despite the fact that she has never even met him.

"So she cheated on you with Ian while you were dating her first? Furthermore, she hasn't met Dallas."

"Correct." I give a head nod.

"Do you know what the motive could be for her to do this?" Someone asks me.

"Bitterness? Feeling of jealousy? I'm not sure."

"How are we going to spin this?" Kass questions.

"Alright, let's keep in mind that you are going through a break up right now." Says another PR person.

They start exchanging ideas with each other.

"How are you handling everything?" Kass asks me.

"Wouldn't you like to know." I scoff. "I'm surprised you don't have an answer for that."

"Star."

"Kass, I can't believe you would do that to me."

"Star, don't act like you would've accepted if I had told you."

"Then why do it all?"

"See how it helped you! Every opportunity that it created."

"How about me? And what about my feelings? There's more to me than this public persona." The room falls silent as my voice rises.

"Your right and I'm sorry." She says that, but I do not believe that. "Look I know this won't make you feel better but I chose Jacob because I know he's a good guy."

"It was also a mistake. When was the last time you didn't convince me into anything, Kass? There was no need for you to lie."

"You really liked him, didn't you?"

I do not respond to her question.

"He truly liked you too, if that helps. He paid me a visit the evening before you guys left on your cabin trip. Jacob assured me that he would no longer lie to you and would instead tell the truth."
