They arrived at the restaurant first before waiting for Wu Mingze and Feng Yichen to arrive.

"So, where have you been?" Zhu Haoran asked, looking at Xiaodan.

"Stuck at home with bad connections," Xiaodan said, short and quick.

"Oh I see," Zhu Haoran nodded his head. He then noticed Wu Mingze and Feng Yichen at the door. He waved his hand to get their attention. Both of them were startled to see the girls with Zhu Haoran.

"Why didn't you say anything about getting with the girls?" Feng Yichen said, wearing simple clothes: a white T-shirt and black jeans.

"Oh, did I not say that?" Zhu Haoran said, going back to look at his text. "Oops, my bad," Zhu Haoran said, seeing that he only texted 'want to get some dinner?'.

"Why bother with you," Feng Yichen said, sitting by Li Chyou. Xiaodan immediately smiled at the two. Someone cleared their throat right by her side. Xiaodan turned her head to see Wu Mingze, staring at her intensely.

A soft ding came from her phone. She glanced at it to find Wu Mingze had texted, "I need to talk to you."

She looked at him and felt his eyes were dead serious. She started to feel nervous.
______
"Why didn't you answer my text?" Wu Mingze asked once Xiaodan and Wu Mingze were alone.

They stayed behind after everyone finished eating. Xiaodan had simply said she had to go to the convenience store for some things. At first, Li Chyou and Fu Xiang didn't want her to go alone, but Wu Mingze didn't hesitate to speak and assured them that he would go with her as he was supposedly going to the convenience store as well. Zhu Haoran also wanted to come along since it was his initial plan to go to the store before they had dinner, but Wu Mingze stopped him by saying he could buy the snacks since he was going. Zhu Haoran was happy to oblige since he didn't have to use his money.

"Ah...well, I didn't really look at my phone," Xiaodan said, nervous.

"But you had the memory to get your notebook but not look at your phone?" Wu Mingze raised one of his eyebrows.

"I-I had poor connections...," Xiaodan mumbled.

"Is that so," Wu Mingze shot her another glare.

Xiaodan tightened her lips together and quietly nodded her head before slightly lowering her head. He soon went silent. It started to be too quiet for her to stand anymore as she looked up and was slightly surprised by his expression. It appeared to her that he was silently sulking. She couldn't help but smile before quickly covering her small chuckle.

"Don't tell me you were worried about me?" Xiaodan teased and started leaning her body towards him. He swiftly turned his face away.

"Of course not...," he slowly breathed out.

"Is that so?" The smile on her face grew brighter.

He crossed his arms together and cleared his throat, "Well...next time you should answer your texts."

"Mmm, okay. I will try my best," Xiaodan said, nodding her head along and dragging out each word to tease him more with a huge smile on her face as she tried to stop herself from laughing. He was starting to get annoyed with her smug smile before he remembered something.

"Oh, that reminds me your so-called cousin told me something interesting," he said with his voice turning cold again.

"Hmm?" Xiaodan started to feel nervous again and felt a cold chill running down her spine. "W-what did he say?" she said, feeling something was wrong.

"He told me he is actually your childhood friend and quite interested in you," he said, looking at her dead serious.

"What!" she choked on her saliva. She cleared her throat, "Sorry, but what did you say."

"I think you heard me clearly," he said.

"Haha... Senior- I mean Zixin ge likes to tease. Don't take his words seriously," she said, spewing nonsense. "He always messes around," she continued, waving her hand to dispute that gibberish. She then looked at him but immediately stopped smiling.

"Oh, is that so," he said, raising one eyebrow.

"Of course," she forced a smile, "Don't be fooled by him. My cousin is just silly," she tried to laugh it off.

"Why? Does that bother you?" She tilted her head.

He cleared his throat and said, "Not really...," and averted his eyes.

She sighed in relief as she knew that was the end of the conversation.

"Well, I should head back before the girls worry about me again," she said, quickly ending the matter.

"Alright," he leisurely said.
Before she was about to leave, she remembered something. "Ah! Thank you for the updates. It was very sweet of you to do," she said with a bright smile.

"No problem," he said, staring at her. "Next time, just answer," he said softly.

"Will do!" she tightened her smile to stop herself from laughing before leaving.

Once Xiaodan arrived back at the dorm, Fu Xiang and Li Chyou had already settled down. Fu Xiang had finished showering and was getting ready to lay in her bed. Li Chyou was next to take a shower.

"Xiaodan, you're back," Li Chyou said, noticing her.

"Were you able to buy what you wanted?" Fu Xiang asked, rolling on her side to look at her.

"Ah, no...," Xiaodan said as she realized she was empty-handed.

"Aww, too bad," Fu Xiang said.

"Yeah, hopefully, they restock soon," Xiaodan lied. Xiaodan headed to her desk before placing her phone down and getting ready for bed.

Li Chyou was about to head to the washroom, but she remembered something.
"Ah, Xiaodan. Tomorrow, we are going to Wu Mingze's summer house over the break. Do you want to come along?" Li Chyou asked.
