Xiaodan gave out a dry chuckle, "Oh... I didn't see you there. I just finished talking to my friend on the phone. That's something my friend and I call each other. We love to matchmake...ha..ha...."
She forced a smile, trying to play it cool.
"That's odd. How can you be talking to your friend when your phone is right here," Wu Ming Feng said, showing her phone to her.
"Ah..ha..." Xiaodan uttered as she had the urge to facepalm her face.
"Don't try to make up an excuse. I heard your entire conversation," he said. "So what are you, and who are you trying to matchmake?" He asked, looking at her seriously.
At that moment, Xiaodan's mind was racing on what to do, but then she noticed his pouty lips. She had the urge to tease him. Soon, she realized he was just a kid who could easily be frightened or coaxed into not telling.
"Why? Are you worried I'm trying to matchmake your brother?" Xiaodan said, messing with him.
His eyebrows shot up, "Don't you dare harm my brother by doing some weird magic on him to control his mind into aimlessly falling in love with some random person!"
Xiaodan just chuckled, "What are you going to do about it? What if am I?" She smirked with her eyebrows going up and down.
His chest puffed up, and he puckered his lip more before saying, "Don't think I won't tell."
Xiaodan crossed her arms together and continued to tease, "Go ahead. I'm not afraid. You're just a kid. Who would believe your words."
Wu Ming Feng immediately shut his mouth and sadly looked defeated. Xiaodan knew she went a little too far and walked to him with a smile. "I'm just kidding. Don't worry, your brother is not my target. Also, I won't harm anyone," she said, patting his head.
"Haven't you ever heard about Cupid?" she said, leaning down to his level.
"I-I know who Cupid is and what he does. I heard about it in school. He makes people fall in love with his arrows. So, where's your bow and arrow?" He grumbled.
"But didn't you overhear that I'm his assistant? So I only help him. I don't have any capability to force someone to fall in love," she explained to him.
"Oh," he said. Xiaodan felt it was alright to tell him since he was a kid. He doesn't really understand. Also if he did tell, most people won't believe a child's words anyway, so she could bluff it off. And she has a great objective to blackmail him to not spill the beans. His brother.
"So since you know my true identity, you must keep it to yourself," she said.
"Why should I," Wu Ming Feng crossed his arms together.
"Just because I don't have the capability to make your brother fall in love with someone. Doesn't mean I can't use some other magic on him," she leaned down and toyed with him.
"Hmph, fine. I'm only doing this because you are blackmailing me," he said with a pout.
"Good." She ruffled his hair. "How about we go back," she said with a smile.
He tightened his lips. "Fine," he said and followed her. "But, who are you trying to matchmake?" He asked, looking up at her.
"Hmm, that's a secret," she smiled with her pointer finger to her lips.
"Why can't you tell me? I already know your secret, and I know how to keep a secret," he slightly whined.
"That's because-," she tried to explain to him, but Wu Mingze had appeared.
"There you two are. I had to come look for you guys. What's taking you two so long?" Wu Mingze said, looking at both of them.
"Nothing much. Just on the phone," Xiaodan answered.
"Well, the food is ready. Come eat," he said.
"Coming," Xiaodan said, patting the back of Wu Ming Feng's head before walking first.
"Ge," Wu Ming Feng said, coming next to his brother and slightly tugging at his shirt.
"Hm?" Wu Mingze glanced down at his brother. Xiaodan also stopped and looked at Wu Ming Feng. With a smile on her face, she waited to see what he was going to say. Wu Ming Feng looked at her smile before clenching his fist.
"I-I don't like her," he pouty mumbled and quickly walked away.
Xiaodan broke into a brighter smile and slightly chuckled at his remark. Wu Meng Feng didn't understand himself; why couldn't he just tell his brother? He knew his brother would believe him, but he couldn't speak a word. It wasn't because he was afraid. For some reason, he wasn't scared of her or had this strong dislike of her. He actually felt quite comfortable around her.
