After spending a wonderful morning at the dorm, sharing their news and basking in the joy of their friends, Namjoon and Y/N decided it was time to head back home. The energy and excitement of the moment had been exhilarating, but now that they were alone again, the reality of the day’s events began to settle in. The drive home was quiet and comfortable, with Namjoon occasionally reaching over to give Y/N’s hand a reassuring squeeze.
When they finally arrived back at the apartment, Y/N let out a tired sigh as she walked inside. The emotional rollercoaster of the day, combined with the early stages of pregnancy, was beginning to take its toll. She kicked off her shoes and made her way to the couch, sinking into the soft cushions with a contented sigh.
Namjoon followed her, his eyes full of concern as he watched her stretch out on the couch. "You okay, love?" he asked gently, sitting down beside her and brushing a few strands of hair away from her face.
Y/N nodded, giving him a tired but grateful smile. "Yeah, just a little exhausted. It’s been a long day."
Namjoon returned her smile, leaning down to press a tender kiss to her forehead. "Why don’t we just relax for the rest of the day? We can watch something and take it easy."
"That sounds perfect," Y/N agreed, shifting slightly to make room for him to sit beside her. She rested her head on his shoulder as Namjoon reached for the remote, flipping through the channels until they found something light and comforting to watch.
For a while, they sat in comfortable silence, the soft hum of the television in the background as they snuggled together. The warmth of Namjoon’s presence and the steady rhythm of his breathing lulled Y/N into a state of relaxation, her eyes growing heavy as the events of the day began to catch up with her.
But just as she was beginning to doze off, a sudden wave of nausea hit her like a freight train. Y/N’s eyes snapped open, and she quickly pushed herself up from the couch, barely managing to mumble, "I’ll be right back," before hurrying to the bathroom.
Namjoon’s heart skipped a beat as he watched her rush off, concern immediately flooding his mind. He was on his feet in an instant, following her to the bathroom door, though he hesitated just outside, not wanting to overwhelm her.
Inside the bathroom, Y/N barely made it to the toilet before the nausea overtook her, and she began to vomit. The feeling was intense and sudden, leaving her shaky and weak as she clung to the edge of the sink for support. Tears pricked at the corners of her eyes as the reality of morning sickness began to sink in—another sign that the pregnancy was very real, and that it was already beginning to affect her body.
Namjoon could hear her retching from where he stood outside the door, and it made his heart ache to know she was suffering. He hated seeing her in pain, especially when there was so little he could do to help. After a moment’s hesitation, he knocked gently on the door. "Y/N? Are you okay in there?" he asked, his voice filled with worry.
There was a pause before Y/N responded, her voice a little hoarse but steady. "Yeah... I’m okay, Joon. Just... morning sickness, I guess."
Namjoon’s heart clenched at her words, and he carefully opened the door, stepping inside to find her sitting on the floor, leaning against the wall for support. Her face was pale, and she looked exhausted, but she managed a weak smile when she saw him.
Without a word, Namjoon knelt down beside her, his hands gently cradling her face as he wiped away the few stray tears that had escaped. "I’m sorry you’re feeling like this," he said softly, his voice laced with concern. "I wish I could make it better."
Y/N shook her head, reaching up to take his hand in hers. "It’s okay, Joon. This is just part of it, right? We knew there would be tough days."
Namjoon nodded, though it didn’t make it any easier to see her like this. "Yeah, but still... you don’t have to go through this alone. I’m here for you, every step of the way."
Y/N squeezed his hand, drawing comfort from his presence. "I know. And that makes it so much easier."
Namjoon helped her up, supporting her as she rinsed her mouth and splashed some cool water on her face. Once she was feeling a little steadier, he guided her back to the couch, making sure she was comfortable before sitting down beside her again.
"Maybe we should take a nap," he suggested, his voice gentle. "You need to rest, and I’ll be right here with you."
Y/N nodded, feeling her eyelids grow heavy again. "That sounds nice," she murmured, leaning against him as he pulled a blanket over them both.
Namjoon wrapped his arms around her, holding her close as they settled back into the couch. He pressed a soft kiss to the top of her head, his heart full of love and determination. This was just the beginning, and there would be more tough days ahead, but Namjoon knew they could handle anything as long as they were together.
As Y/N drifted off to sleep, Namjoon stayed awake, his mind already racing with thoughts of how he could make things easier for her in the coming weeks. He knew it wouldn’t always be easy, but he was ready to face whatever challenges came their way.
Because in the end, they were going to be a family, and there was nothing more important to him than that.
