The first night at home was a new experience—one filled with excitement, love, and a few unexpected challenges. Y/N and Namjoon were learning what it truly meant to be parents, and their daughter was making sure they were getting the full experience right from the start.
After settling in and spending the evening quietly admiring their newborn, they eventually decided it was time to put her to bed. They carefully laid her down in the bassinet beside their bed, tucking her in snugly and watching as her tiny eyes fluttered closed. It felt like a moment of peace after the whirlwind of the past few days.
But that peace didn’t last long.
Barely an hour after they had settled into bed themselves, a soft whimper began to echo in the room. It grew louder, quickly escalating into full-blown cries. Both Y/N and Namjoon were wide awake in an instant, their hearts racing as they scrambled to tend to their daughter.
“She’s hungry again,” Y/N murmured, already getting out of bed and lifting the baby into her arms. Her voice was tired but gentle as she held their daughter close, soothing her with soft words.
Namjoon got up as well, standing by Y/N’s side, ready to help however he could. “I’ll get you some water,” he said, his voice just as weary but filled with concern. He knew that Y/N needed to stay hydrated, especially while breastfeeding.
Y/N nodded gratefully as she settled back onto the bed, cradling their daughter and beginning to nurse her. The baby’s cries quickly quieted as she latched on, finding comfort in the familiar rhythm. Namjoon returned with a glass of water, placing it on the nightstand within Y/N’s reach before sitting beside her.
As their daughter nursed, Y/N leaned back against the pillows, her eyes heavy with exhaustion. Namjoon rubbed her back gently, offering silent support. They were both tired, but the sight of their daughter nestled against Y/N’s chest made every sleepless moment worth it.
After their daughter had finished nursing, Y/N carefully burped her and rocked her back to sleep. Once she was sure the baby was settled, she laid her down in the bassinet again. For a moment, the room was filled with a peaceful silence, and both Y/N and Namjoon allowed themselves to hope that they might get a few hours of rest.
But it wasn’t long before the cries began again, piercing through the quiet night. Y/N groaned softly, rubbing her eyes as she got out of bed once more. Namjoon was right there with her, reaching for their daughter and lifting her into his arms this time.
“I’ve got her,” Namjoon whispered, cradling the baby gently. He rocked her back and forth, trying to soothe her. “You rest for a bit.”
Y/N nodded, grateful for the brief reprieve. She lay back down, closing her eyes for just a moment, but she couldn’t fully relax knowing that Namjoon was up and tending to their daughter. She watched as he paced the room, whispering soothing words to their baby, trying everything he could think of to calm her down.
After what felt like an eternity, their daughter finally settled down again, and Namjoon carefully placed her back in the bassinet. He sighed softly, crawling back into bed beside Y/N, both of them hoping this time they’d get a bit more rest.
But the night continued like that—waking up every couple of hours to feed, soothe, and settle their daughter. It was exhausting, but neither Y/N nor Namjoon complained. They were in this together, and every moment, even the challenging ones, felt like a step forward on their journey as parents.
By the time the first light of dawn began to filter through the curtains, both Y/N and Namjoon were completely worn out. Their daughter was finally sleeping soundly, and they could only hope that she’d stay that way for a while.
As they lay in bed, Namjoon reached over and took Y/N’s hand, giving it a gentle squeeze. “We made it through our first night,” he said with a tired smile.
Y/N smiled back, squeezing his hand in return. “We did,” she agreed softly. “And we’ll keep making it through, together.”
Namjoon leaned over and kissed her forehead, then placed a soft kiss on their daughter’s head as well. “I love you,” he whispered to both of them.
“We love you too,” Y/N replied, feeling a deep sense of contentment despite the exhaustion.
They knew that this was just the beginning, and there would be many more sleepless nights ahead. But they also knew that they were a team, and as long as they had each other, they could handle anything that came their way.
