Part 43 - Deer's In Headlights

I wake from the table, ripping the sheet off my body. I hobble of clutching the sides of everything.

I had to see him, I had to let him know I was ok...'

I make it to the elevator and sit on the floor of it, my head pounded. I push the button to the living quarters and hobble off leaning against the wall to take a breath.

I hear a cup smash behind me. I turn to face them.

Tony, Nat, Loki and Elijah.

'Am I hallucinating?' Tony asks face full of shock

'Oh good you can see her too... is this a mind trick?' Nat asks

Loki stands in silence, he didn't make a move he was just frozen in place. Same for my brother, they looked as though they were deer's in headlights.

I hobble over to Tony and Loki clutching onto there arms.

'Dying was not part of my whole run away thing...'

Loki grabs me and hugs me tight 'don't ever do that again...' he breathes out

I smile rubbing my face into his chest. I was home.

My brother and Loki help me to the couch and place me down. Elijah gives me a hug before sitting down.

'You were dead...' Tony states still in shock

I nod 'well yes...'

He hums 'how are you here? I mean I'm glad and happy and excited and-'

'Tony... it was really weird and an experience I'd take again but im still processing myself..'

He nods 'sure, sure. Umm another why are you out of medbay?'

I furrow my brows 'I was on an autopsy table covered with a sheet... I didn't plan on staying to be cremated or buried.'

He nods 'right, yep. Sorry this is super fucking weird... wait I'm gonna have a heart attack.'

I roll my eyes and turn to my brother 'thank you for listening and getting out...'

He nods 'well next time just don't die... that wasn't part of what you said...'

I nod 'noted...'

'Y/n all of us need to speak to you at some point...' Nat states

I nod 'yeah well that isn't happening today... not if it's about what I think it is...'

She nods smiling 'I'm glad your back...'

'Yeah well it's a good thing I was found otherwise I would have died again in a pit'

She laughs and gives me a hug.

I pull away 'I'm going to go get some sleep.. I'm tired. I'll talk to you all later...' I say standing up

Loki grabs onto me 'I'll take you up..'

'Wait your not staying? You just died!' Tony argues

I roll my eyes 'yeah well I need sleep and you all need to get past your shock so... bedtime it is'

Lokis POV
I help her to her room, not a word spoken on the way. She looked exhausted, I was kind of concerned as this was nothing I had ever seen before... I was worried she had done something.

I help her in her room and she lowers to the ground.

'Y/n your not sleeping on the floor...'

I pick her up into my arms and place her on the bed. I look at her a moment, I just couldn't stop.

'Will you lay with me?...' she asks

I nod climbing into the bed she lays her head down on me and looks up.

'Loki I can feel your feelings, you're worried. Why?'

I sigh, there was no getting past this woman 'coming back from the dead shouldn't be so easy...'

She smiles lightly 'actually it is when your linked to an immortal...'

I furrow my brows

'It doesn't have an effect on you... but I was given the option to stay or go... so I came back...'

I look at her 'and do you regret it...'

She shakes her head 'no, I just feel out of place...'

I nod in understanding, never had any of us died and the ones that had stayed that way. We thought she was gone and now she was here. As much as we were surprised and in shock how had that affected her?

I clear my throat 'I never stopped thinking about you...'

She furrows her brows 'well given I died what 12 hours ago? I should hope not' she says smirking

I smile 'no, I mean when I left...'

She nods 'it was the same for me...'

I look down to her puzzled 'what?'

'I thought of you also... even dead I couldn't escape you' she says lightly laughing

I nod in thought, before I had left we had shared a moment our first kiss and I showed her my true form and yet, even after that she still liked me, still cared.
