Part 79 - Greed

Lokis POV
'On your left brother!' I shout across the field

Thor swings his hammer blasting the group back, there bodies thud on the floor.

'Haha! I love this thing...' he booms

I roll my eyes 'think that was the last of them...'

'Great! Until tomorrow!' Thor booms again

'When will this end?...' I ask annoyed, we had been doing this for a few weeks constantly on the go taking down elves.

Thor shrugs coming over 'once they stop coming and Asgard is safe once again'

I huff 'you mean Odin... do you not find it odd these creatures are just coming for the thrown claiming it's due to being mistreated?'

'You know father, he's all about looking after the realms, it's just an excuse brother...'

I turn to him 'Thor... no one steps for the throne, only an idiot would'

'Ha explains why you did'

I look at him, I could strangle him right now 'my point being there's something we haven't been told...'

'What would father keep from us? I think your overthinking this'

I stop him in his place 'well for one he kept that I was adopted out of the picture... you don't think he'd lie again?'

Thor looks to me 'brother I'm sure he would have said by now... come on let's get back'

Thor begins to walk away, I stand there huffing. This was well and truly the most frustrating thing ever.

All I wanted was to get back to y/n, my heart felt as though it was in constant agony since I had left her. It reminded me of her constantly, I worried for her.

I hear movement behind some shrub and approach 'show yourself!' I shout

One of the elves half dead crawl from the shrub.

'Your father will pay...'

I furrow my brows, this would be perfect timing to find out what had happened. I couldn't believe this was all just for power, they would have stopped.

'Let me ask you this, what has my father done?...'

The elf scowls 'he set war on our land with the ogres! He is the very reason family's have been destroyed, our kingdom!'

I furrow my brows lowering to him 'why would my father do that?' I ask annoyed

He breathes heavy 'greed... he wants our land as a gift for the Althiem elves... they offered a good fortune'

I sit back 'what did they offer?...'

The elf dies, his body still. I stand up dusting myself off. What was this move about? Why had Odin decided to against his people?

I make my way back to the castle where I stride straight through to the throne room.

'Brother I had thought you might have been lost!' Thor booms

I stare at Odin 'what did the people of Althiem offer?' I state furiously

Thor looks between us both 'brother what is this about?' Thor queries confused

'He made a deal to give Althiem the land of Niflheim, sending ogres to attack, killing families!'

Odin doesn't make a move 'father is this true?' Thor asks annoyed

Odin breathes out a laugh 'no, it is nothing but lies... where did you gather such information?'

'From one of them, he was dying he was telling nothing but the truth, I would have known if it was false!' I argue

'Keep your tone at bay boy! I have done no such things and this is ridiculous to accuse me of such nature!'

I look to Thor I begged he believed me, he looked uneased and confused.

'...father did you send those attacks?' Thor asks

I lift my head surprised, he had taken my side.

'This is absurd! Both of you out! Go and get your rest for tomorrow!'

I stare at Odin before leaving, this was a load of crap.

'Brother wait!' Thor calls catching up to me

I turn to face him 'yes brother?..'

'I believe you, we must find out why father has done such things...'

'Like he'll tell us... and like you actually believe me...'

Thor shrugs 'I do! Your my brother, you were being honest...why don't we collect y/n... she will be able to read such things..'

I look to him grabbing his collar 'are you mad?! She's not here because Odin asked for it that way, she steps on this realm he will banish her or lock her away!'

Thor removes me from his neck 'we won't let that happen..'

'I refuse to put her at risk Thor! As well as she could get hurt, say she made it to the throne room and got a hold of his mind who's to say her power wouldn't get overwhelmed by Odin! I won't agree!'

'Brother she is more powerful than what you give her credit for...'

'I say no...' I say lowly

He sighs walking away, in no form would I allow you to/n to get hurt.
