TW: Homophobia
It's been months.
Ilang buwan na rin kaming hindi nagkakausap ni Zane. The day he refused to talk to me and pushed me away wasn't the last time I tried talking to him.
Sadly, this has also become the reason why Athena and Isaac got mad at him. I vividly remember what happened that day, when I was waiting for him to come out of their room, trying my best to find a way for him to talk to me again.
I set aside my pride that day. I set aside everything, I didn't care about myself anymore.
I want to fix the misunderstanding we had.
"Ayoko ngang makipag-usap sa'yo. Hindi ka ba makaintindi? Matalino ka 'di na?"
"Zane kasi! Sorry na?"
He left.
Tried my best for another day yet he's still the same person who ignores me.
He left again.
And it became a cycle— Lalapit ako, itataboy, iiwanan, then repeat.
I decided to stop when Athena confronted him, everything began there. It made our circle become distant with each other.
Doon ko rin napagtanto na hayaan na nga lang siguro ito. Pero kung may pagkakataon man, I'll surely grab it. Maybe just like what was stated in the lyrics of Ben&Ben's song, Leaves — all will be alright in time.
Finally, it is our final's week. Tapos na rin kami sa mga exams namin, may iba na hindi na nagpa-exam at nagbigay na lang ng requirements para hindi na raw kami mahirapan.
Which is a lie, dahil sa requirements na ibinigay nila ay mukhang mas lalo pa kaming nahihirapan.
If only I could take exams for each subject, I'll do it for sure. Kaso mukhang busy na rin ang mga teachers namin kaya naman mga mukhang wala na itong plano.
Gian and I are planning to watch a movie next week. He's courting me. Alam naman nito na hindi pa ako out sa family ko kaya siya na rin ang nagpasya na huwag na lang ipaalam.
He's been courting me for a month already. He confessed that he is a bisexual and he wants to court me. Una pa lang, hindi naman na ako pumayag dito, dahil hindi pa alam ng magulang ko ang gender identity ko at siyempre, may nararamdaman pa rin ako sa kaibigan ko kahit na hindi maayos ang pagkakaibigan namin ngayon. But still, he wants to court me so I just let him do whatever he wants. Buhay niya naman 'yan. Hindi naman ako nagbibigay ng false hopes sa kaniya para rin hindi ito umasa.
"Una na ako!" Senyas ko kay Athena na mayroon pang ginagawa sa loob ng publication office. Sumali kasi ito sa campus press ng school. She's also encouraging me to join but seeing how hard it was for me to balance my life and studies made me refuse the idea of joining extracurricular activities. Maybe next year, in my last year, I'll be trying to join some of those.
Agad akong lumabas ng school at naglakad patungo sakayan. Habang naglalakad, hindi ko alam kung namalikmata ba ako nang makita ko si Ledezma kasama si Janna. Nang tignan ko ito ulit at nasiguro kong wala.
But what shocked me was when I saw Janna with Patricia… and Zane. Nasa loob sila ng milk tea shop at mukhang may ginagawa. I just shrugged it off and waited for the jeep to come. Napapalayo na talaga kami sa isa't isa.
"Tropa na si Ledezma at Zane, teh! Hindi ka namamalikmata! Nakita kong magkasama yung dalawa kanina sa school. Kasama rin nila si Janna tsaka Patrica." Isaac said. Edi tama nga na nakita ko siya kanina ro'n. But I don't care though. It's his life so who am I to stop him.
