It is part of our needs— in order to learn a lot of knowledge that will help us conquer our dreams. But in this generation, there are lots of reasons why education is sometimes inaccessible.

One of the reasons was financial constraints.

“Ma, may kailangan po akong bayaran.”

It has been two weeks already since my father was put in jail due to a case of theft. I still can’t accept the fact that the money that was used to fund my education came from the money he stole from people who trusted him so much.

“T-tigilan mo ako kakahingi, tangina!” Saad ng nanay ko habang nag-iinom. Every night, I’m always seeing her in that state. She always wanted to get wasted, maybe to ease the pain she was feeling.

“Puro kamalasan, putangina!” She screamed and cried hard.

She took the bottle of liquor and threw it to the floor where it became the reason why the glasses shattered on the floor.

Bulyaw nito.

Tears were forming in my eyes upon seeing her being broken like that.

After a moment, I saw my mother fall asleep on the sofa and I took it as a signal to clean the mess she created. I was picking up the broken glasses on the floor nang maramdaman ko ang hapdi sa mga daliri ko, I was staring at it while tears were dropping down from my eyes.

After that, I proceeded to my room since I still have a lot of lessons to study. I was absent for five days because I missed a lot of lessons.

Zane called me last night but I refused to answer him since I still have a lot of things to do. I messaged him the reason why, and he immediately said good luck to me for reviewing.

Supposedly, we’ll be reviewing together but I stopped him knowing the situation of him and tita Angelina. Luckily, Ate Zab came home and talked to tita kaya parang nanunumbalik na raw ito.

I also stopped myself from frequently going on dates with him since I really want him to spend time with his family. I also have a lot of things to prioritize as of the moment.

“Let’s go?”

Mood literally went lighter upon seeing my boyfriend.

He was smiling at me the whole time.

He said happily at agad ko naman itong hinampas dahil nahihiya ako.
