Sarah got out of church, heading to her car.
The service was great and she was thankful to God about that.
She opened her car door, closing it once she was inside.
Starting the car, she drove out of the church's parking lot and was heading straight to the Rendox Heix company.
She was grateful to God that the company had joined hands with theirs. She'd prayed about it when it seemed like they were heading nowhere, but thank goodness her prayers were answered.
After fifteen minutes of driving, she stopped the car in the company's parking lot, getting out of it.
She held onto her bag a little too firmly, as she walked into the company.
It was a very huge company, she couldn't help being awed by it.
She hoped Reil would be able to make the Elrey company as big as this was.
She walked up to the receptionist.
It was a female who Sarah guessed to be in her early forties or late thirties. She was chubby and beautiful. Straight blonde hair that moved in waves on her shoulders.
She had on a wide smile that showed a set of sparkling white teeth. “Good afternoon and welcome to Rendox Heix International Company. How may I be of help?”
The way she said it made it sound like she'd said those words too often, it was already a part of her.
Sarah gave her a small smile. “I'm Sarah Willson. I have an appointment with the secretary to the CEO.” She explained.
The woman checked a book, then nodded when she probably saw her name.
“Yes Miss Willsom, Mr Macomber is awaiting your arrival.” She said, still smiling. “Please write down your name here and your signature and time.”
She pointed to a book with a pen beside it. Sarah picked the pen up, filling in whatever she'd been told to do.
After that, she dropped the pen. “Where should I head to?”
“Keep walking straight, then on your first turn, you'll see an elevator, press the button to the thirty fifth floor, then you walk into the first door you see, that's where you'd see him.”
“Okay, thank you…” she stared at the name tag, “Sadie.”
Sadie's smile widened. “Thanks for coming.”
Sarah left her presence, going through whatever directions she'd been told to go through, till she found herself in front of the door of the office she had been told Mr Macomber would be in.
She gave it a small knock, waiting a few seconds for a reply but got nothing.
Contemplating whether to knock again or just walk in, she decided to count backwards from ten to zero.
When she reached zero, she decided, giving the office another knock would be the answer.
She pulled her hand towards the door, about to give it another knock when the door opened.
Standing opposite her was Mr Macomber.
She couldn't help studying his stature. He was very handsome. He had beautiful hazel colored eyes, full brows, prominent nose, and oak-shaped jaws.
His tall figure dwafted her five foot three inches own. She stared at those hazel colored eyes and he held her gaze with it.
Although it was meant to be awkward standing in front of each other and just staring into each other's eyes (ignore the fact her hand was still dangling in the air), it felt normal.
Finally gaining her composer, she broke from the gaze, dropping her hand to her side. “Good afternoon Mr Macomber, I'd like to collect the contract from you sir.”
“Why don't you come in and have some tea or something?” His voice was so calm and soft, she couldn't help its effect on her heart.
She nodded, walking into his office when he made way for her to pass.
The office was huge (like every other typical wealthy person's office), though not as huge as Reil's.
She figured he was ambling behind her, stopping in his tracks which caused her to involuntarily do the same.
Then turning to him, she furrowed her brows earning a raised brow from him.
“Is there a problem?” He asked, standing at a comfortable gap between them.
She knew she shouldn't say what she had in mind, but she decided to. If they were to work together, she shouldn't hold anything against him.
“I called you so many times, why did you never agree to make a deal with us?” She crossed her hands over her chest. “In fact, you stopped answering my calls.”
He let out a small smile and she had to admit, it made him look pretty.
“You should know, Miss Willsom, how tiresome the business industry is. And we have our hands full, adding more business is bound to make us turn insane.”
“But you guys were able to add more and you still look sane.” She pointed out.
“Yeah, for now.” He muttered, but loud enough for her to hear.
She dropped her hand. “Okay, the contract.”
He gestured to the couch behind them. “Why don't we have our seat and maybe tea, before I get the contract?”
“I'd love that, but I'm actually heading somewhere after this.” Which wasn't a lie, she had to meet with her dad after she gave Reil the papers.
He nodded in understanding, sauntering to a desk behind her where he picked up a file then headed back to her, stretching his hand where the file lay.
“Here, I hope you guys enjoy doing business with us.” He smiled, holding her gaze.
She reached for the file, not wanting to break the gaze which surprisingly made her heart beat two times faster.
“I know we will.”
He released his hold of the file, replacing his hand to his pocket, while she dropped the file in her bag.
“Thanks, I'll get going now.” She smiled, then walked past him to the door.
She held the doorknob, turning it so the door opened. “Goodbye then.” She said.
“Goodbye.”
Then she walked out of the office. She was now officially a secretary. Thank God.
