Colet unlocked the door to her apartment, feeling the weight of the day dragging her down. It was just past 9 p.m., and after hours of classes and work, she was beyond exhausted. All she wanted was to collapse onto her bed and forget about the world for a while.

As she stepped inside, the soft glow of the kitchen light caught her attention. She furrowed her brows, noticing something out of place—a neatly arranged plate of food on the table, covered with foil. Colet walked over, a small note perched against the plate.

"Thought you'd be hungry. Heat it up before eating. — Olivia."

Colet's heart swelled with warmth as she read Olivia's note. Her roommate and close friend always seemed to know when she needed something, without her ever having to ask. Smiling to herself, Colet carefully placed the food in the microwave and waited for it to heat up.

Once the microwave beeped, she retrieved the plate and sat down at the table, enjoying the quiet comfort of the meal Olivia had prepared. It wasn't anything extravagant, just some pasta and garlic bread, but it tasted like heaven after such a long day. The simple act of care made Colet's exhaustion feel a little lighter, her heart a little fuller.

When she finished eating, Colet washed the dishes, her mind still lingering on Olivia's quiet thoughtfulness. The younger girl had been her roommate for almost a year now, and in that time, they had grown closer than Colet had ever expected. Olivia wasn't just a friend—she was a constant presence in her life, someone who grounded her in ways no one else could.

After the dishes were done, Colet headed to the bathroom for a much-needed shower. The hot water helped ease the tension in her muscles, and by the time she stepped out, she felt a little more like herself. She changed into her most comfortable pajamas, a loose T-shirt and shorts, before drying her damp hair with a towel.

As Colet left the bathroom, towel draped over her head, she passed Olivia's room and paused. The door was slightly ajar, and through the crack, she could see Olivia lying on her bed, glasses perched on her nose as she read a book.

Colet smiled at the sight. Olivia was always so focused when she read, her brow furrowing in concentration, her lips sometimes moving silently as she absorbed the words on the page. It was one of the many things Colet found endearing about her.

Without really thinking about it, Colet pushed the door open a little wider and stepped inside. Olivia looked up from her book, startled at first, but her expression softened when she saw Colet standing there, smiling at her.

"Hey," Olivia greeted softly, pushing her glasses up her nose. "Did you eat?"

"Yeah," Colet replied, her voice warm. "Thanks for that, Liv. I didn't realize how hungry I was."

Olivia smiled, a shy tilt of her lips. "I figured you'd be tired after such a long day. It was nothing."

Colet leaned against the doorframe, towel still in hand as she watched Olivia for a moment. There was something about the way the younger girl looked so at ease, lying there with her book, that made Colet's heart skip a beat. She had always admired Olivia's quiet strength, her calm presence. But lately, that admiration had started to shift into something more, something deeper.

"I don't know what I'd do without you," Colet said softly, the words slipping out before she could stop them.

Olivia's cheeks flushed a light pink, and she looked down at her book, clearly flustered. "I don't do much," she mumbled.

"You do more than you know," Colet replied, stepping closer. She sat down at the edge of Olivia's bed, her hand absentmindedly playing with the end of the towel. "You always take care of me, even when I don't ask. I notice, Liv. I really do."

Olivia's gaze flicked up to meet Colet's, her eyes searching Colet's face as if trying to gauge how serious she was. Colet could see the uncertainty there, the slight hesitance that Olivia always carried with her. It was something Colet had come to recognize over the months they had spent together.

"I don't mind," Olivia finally said, her voice quiet but sincere. "I like taking care of you."

There was a vulnerability in her words that made Colet's chest tighten. She shifted closer, their knees brushing as she leaned in just slightly. "Why?" Colet asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Olivia's breath hitched, her fingers tightening around the book in her lap. She didn't answer right away, and Colet could see the internal battle playing out in her eyes. But then, after what felt like an eternity, Olivia spoke.

"Because you matter to me," Olivia whispered, her voice so soft it was almost lost in the space between them. "More than you know."

Colet's heart pounded in her chest, the weight of Olivia's words sinking in. She had always known there was something between them, something unspoken that lingered in the quiet moments they shared. But hearing Olivia say it out loud, acknowledging the depth of her feelings—it made everything feel real in a way it hadn't before.

Slowly, Colet reached out, her hand brushing against Olivia's. She felt Olivia tense for a moment, but then the younger girl relaxed, her fingers intertwining with Colet's.

"I feel the same way," Colet admitted, her voice thick with emotion. "I've felt it for a while now."

Olivia's eyes widened slightly, her lips parting in surprise. "You do?"

Colet nodded, her thumb gently stroking the back of Olivia's hand. "Yeah. I've just... I didn't know how to tell you."

For a moment, they just sat there, the silence between them heavy with unspoken feelings. Colet could feel her heart racing, her pulse quickening as the tension built between them. She didn't know what was going to happen next, but she knew she couldn't hold back anymore.

"I'm tired of pretending," Colet said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I don't want to hide how I feel anymore."

Olivia's gaze softened, and she squeezed Colet's hand gently. "You don't have to."

Before Colet could say anything else, Olivia leaned in, closing the small distance between them. Their lips met in a soft, tentative kiss, the kind that spoke of months of pent-up emotions and quiet longing. Colet's breath caught in her throat as she kissed Olivia back, her hand moving to cup the younger girl's cheek, her fingers gently brushing against her skin.

The kiss deepened, growing more intense as Colet shifted closer, her body pressing against Olivia's. She could feel the warmth radiating from Olivia's skin, the soft sound of their breathing filling the quiet room. It was everything Colet had wanted, everything she had been afraid to admit to herself for so long.

When they finally pulled apart, both of them were breathless, their foreheads resting against each other as they tried to steady their racing hearts.

"I've wanted this for so long," Olivia admitted, her voice shaky but full of emotion.

"Me too," Colet whispered back, her hand still resting on Olivia's cheek. "I'm glad we stopped pretending."

Olivia smiled, her fingers brushing lightly against Colet's arm. "So am I."

In that quiet moment, surrounded by the warmth of each other's presence, Colet realized that everything she had been searching for was right there in front of her—right there with Olivia.
