(Colet Vergara POV)
The cafeteria buzzed with the usual lunchtime chaos, but my focus was on the jock standing across from me, his smug face pushing all my buttons. Anger bubbled up inside me, a familiar, uncontrollable force. My fists clenched at my sides, ready to launch at him and wipe that grin off his face.
"What's your problem, Vergara?" he taunted, his voice dripping with mockery. "Gonna throw another tantrum?"
I took a step forward, my vision narrowing to a red haze. But just as I was about to lash out, a familiar voice cut through the noise.
"Colet, stop."
I froze, the rage dissipating as quickly as it had come. Turning, I saw Olivia Grace Martinez standing there, her calm presence like a balm to my frayed nerves. She was everything I wasn't—gentle, kind, and always in control. And somehow, she saw something in me worth loving.
"Olivia," I muttered, my anger melting away under her steady gaze.
She walked over to me, her eyes never leaving mine. "What's going on?" she asked softly, her hand reaching out to touch my arm.
The jock snickered behind me, but I barely heard him. All my attention was on Olivia, her touch grounding me. "Nothing," I said, my voice quieter, less aggressive. "Just... he was being an idiot."
Olivia's eyes flicked to the jock, then back to me. "He's not worth it, Colet," she said gently. "Come on, let's go."
I nodded, allowing her to guide me away from the confrontation. As we walked through the cafeteria, the tension in my shoulders eased, replaced by a sense of calm that only Olivia could bring. We found an empty table in a quieter corner, and I sat down, feeling the weight of my anger lift.
"Why do you always let them get to you?" Olivia asked, her voice soft but firm. She sat across from me, her eyes filled with concern and something deeper—love.
"I don't know," I admitted, running a hand through my hair. "I just... I can't stand the way they act, like they're better than everyone else."
Olivia reached across the table, taking my hand in hers. "You don't have to prove anything to them, Colet. You're better than that. You're better than them."
Her words were like a soothing balm to my soul, and I squeezed her hand, grateful for her presence in my life. "I don't deserve you," I said, my voice barely above a whisper.
Olivia's eyes softened, and she leaned in closer. "Yes, you do. You deserve to be happy, to be loved. And I'm not going anywhere."
I felt a lump form in my throat, emotions I usually kept buried rising to the surface. "I love you, Olivia," I said, my voice breaking. "I don't know what I'd do without you."
She smiled, her eyes shining with unshed tears. "I love you too, Colet. And I'm always here for you, no matter what."
In that moment, surrounded by the noise and chaos of the cafeteria, it felt like we were the only two people in the world. Olivia leaned across the table, pressing a soft kiss to my lips, and I felt a warmth spread through me, chasing away the last remnants of my anger.
As we pulled apart, I knew that with Olivia by my side, I could face anything. She was my anchor, my safe haven, and I would do anything to protect the love we shared. With her, I was more than my anger, more than my flaws. With her, I was whole.
And as we sat there, hand in hand, I realized that no matter what challenges we faced, we would face them together. Because love, true love, had the power to tame even the fiercest storm.
