Gwen Apuli was deeply immersed in her gaming session, her fingers moving deftly over the controller as she coordinated with her friends over the headset. The intense match of Call of Duty had her full attention, and her competitive spirit was in high gear.
"Cover me, Mikha! Colet, flank left!" Gwen's voice was firm, her focus unwavering as she navigated the virtual battlefield. Her teammates—Mikha, Colet, and Jhoanna—were equally engrossed in the game, their voices creating a symphony of strategic commands and occasional laughter.
Meanwhile, downstairs in the kitchen, Sheena Catacutan had just finished preparing dinner. The aroma of her signature dish filled the air, and she was eager to share the meal with Gwen. She wiped her hands on a towel and called out, "Bebe, dinner's ready!"
There was no response. Sheena sighed, knowing exactly what had captured Gwen's attention. She walked to the bottom of the stairs and called out again, a bit louder this time. "Bebe Gwen, dinner's ready!"
Still no response. Sheena's patience wore thin as she thought about how Gwen always lost track of time when she was gaming. She took a deep breath and shouted, "GWENETH APULI! GET DOWN HERE RIGHT NOW THIS INSTANT!"
Upstairs, Gwen nearly jumped out of her skin, her heart racing at the sudden and stern call. In her haste, she accidentally threw her controller aside, her character in the game left vulnerable. "Guys, I gotta go. Bebe's calling," she said hastily into the headset.
Mikha's voice came through, a mix of amusement and understanding. "Good luck, Gwen. We'll cover for you."
Gwen quickly logged off and rushed downstairs, her footsteps echoing through the house. Sheena stood at the bottom of the stairs, arms crossed, an exasperated yet affectionate look on her face.
"I'm sorry, Bebe. I got caught up in the game," Gwen said sheepishly, scratching the back of her head.
Sheena shook her head, her expression softening. "I figured as much. Come on, dinner's getting cold."
They walked into the kitchen together, where Sheena had set the table with care. The sight of the delicious meal made Gwen's stomach growl, and she felt a pang of guilt for making Sheena wait.
As they sat down to eat, Gwen couldn't help but admire Sheena's culinary skills. The food was not only delicious but also a testament to Sheena's love and care. They chatted about their day, the conversation flowing easily between them.
"You know, Bebe, I'm really sorry about earlier," Gwen said between bites. "I didn't mean to ignore you. I just got so wrapped up in the game."
Sheena smiled, reaching across the table to hold Gwen's hand. "I know, Bebe. I just wish you'd remember to take breaks and spend time with me too. It's been five years, and I still love these little moments we share."
Gwen squeezed Sheena's hand, her heart swelling with affection. "You're right. I promise I'll be more mindful. How about we do something together after dinner?"
Sheena's eyes lit up. "I'd love that. How about a movie night? We haven't done that in a while."
"Perfect," Gwen agreed, a smile spreading across her face.
After dinner, they cleaned up together, their movements synchronized from years of living as a team. They settled on the couch in the living room, a cozy blanket draped over them. Sheena chose a romantic comedy, and they snuggled up together, enjoying the warmth of each other's presence.
As the movie played, Gwen found herself stealing glances at Sheena. The soft glow of the TV illuminated her face, highlighting her features. Gwen felt a rush of gratitude and love for the woman beside her. Sheena had always been her rock, her confidante, and her greatest supporter.
Halfway through the movie, Sheena turned to Gwen, her eyes sparkling with affection. "Do you remember our first movie night as a married couple?"
Gwen chuckled, nodding. "How could I forget? We were so nervous and excited. We ended up talking through the entire movie."
Sheena laughed, the sound filling Gwen's heart with warmth. "And here we are, five years later, still talking through movies."
They shared a tender kiss, the world outside their cozy bubble fading away. In that moment, Gwen realized how lucky she was to have Sheena by her side. The gaming sessions, the busy days, and the occasional arguments were all part of the beautiful journey they were on together.
As the credits rolled, Gwen pulled Sheena closer, their bodies fitting perfectly together. "I love you, Sheena. Thank you for always being patient with me."
Sheena smiled, her eyes brimming with love. "I love you too, Gwen. And I wouldn't have it any other way."
They sat in comfortable silence for a while, savoring the peaceful end to their evening. Gwen felt a renewed sense of commitment to balance her passions and her relationship. She wanted to be the partner Sheena deserved, and she knew that meant making time for the little moments that mattered most.
The next morning, Gwen woke up early and made breakfast, surprising Sheena with a tray of pancakes, fresh fruit, and coffee. Sheena's eyes widened in delight as she sat up in bed. "What's all this?"
Gwen grinned, setting the tray down. "Just a little something to show how much I appreciate you. I figured it's my turn to cook for you."
Sheena's heart melted at the gesture. They enjoyed breakfast in bed, the start of a new day filled with love and laughter. Gwen knew that there would always be distractions and challenges, but with Sheena by her side, she felt ready to face anything.
As they finished their meal, Gwen leaned in and kissed Sheena softly. "Here's to many more years of us, Bebe. I'm all in."
Sheena smiled, her eyes shining with happiness. "Me too, Bebe. Me too."
And with that, they began their day, their hearts full and their bond stronger than ever, ready to take on whatever life had in store for them together.
