The warmth of her body immediately radiated through me, and for a brief moment, it felt like everything around us faded away.

Nagulat siya at bahagyang napapitlag. "What are you doing?" she asked, her voice holding that usual edge, but it was softer this time.

"It's cold."

She started to move.

"I don't need that." I whispered, my voice almost trembling with the weight of the words I was about to say.

"I just want to feel your warmth."

There was a moment of hesitation before I heard her sigh softly.

She wrapped her arm around my waist, pulling me a little closer to her side.

It was such a small gesture, but it made my heart race.

I looked up at her, caught off guard by how gentle her touch had become.

"What?" tanong niya, nakataas ang isang kilay habang pinagmamasdan ako.

I couldn't help the small smile that tugged at the corner of my lips.

My gaze returned to the road ahead, but all I could focus on was the feeling of her hand on my waist.

For a while, neither of us spoke. The silence should've been awkward, but it wasn't. It was comfortable, the kind that felt like we didn't need words to fill the space.

I leaned into her warmth even more, feeling the gentle tug of her hand pulling me closer.

Landi.

"Uuwi ka na ulit sainyo." she finally broke the silence.

"What if mas malala ang gawin nila bukas? What if they-" she stopped, her jaw tightening like she didn't want to finish the thought.

I chuckled softly. "Then I'll call you."

She gave me a pointed look, her lips pressing into a thin line. "I'm being serious. But of course, you find a way to joke about it."

I sighed, my expression softening as I turned to face her again. "I'm sorry" I said quietly, my tone sincere this time.

"I just... I don't want to ruin this moment. I don't want to think about all the 'what ifs' when we're here... like this."

Her grip on my waist tightened slightly, and I could feel her heartbeat against my side, syncing with my own.

We stayed like that, wrapped in each other's quiet warmth, for what felt like hours. There were no more words exchanged, just the comforting sound of her breathing and the steady rhythm of our hearts beating in time with one another.

She gently pulled away from me, standing up and brushing off her jeans.

Tahimik ang bahay nang makarating ako, I glanced at the living room, expecting to see my mom waiting for me like she usually did, but the space was empty.

"Yaya, where are my parents?" tanong ko sa isa sa mga katulong na dumadaan, papunta na sa kanyang kwarto.

"Ah, ma'am." she paused, turning to face me. "Si ma'am Yve po ay kanina pa tulog. Hindi na daw po kayo mahihintay."

She hesitated, then added. "Si Sir naman po, umalis."

"At this hour?" I asked, confused.

"Opo, may sumundo po eh." sagot niya.

Weirdo.

I was about to head to the bathroom when I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket.

I unlocked it, and there it was—her message.

"Wash your face before you go to sleep, it might have GERMS."

"Mahawahan ka pa ni Mikha."

I stared at the text for a moment, a small smile tugging at my lips.

"Thanks. I'll make sure I do. Goodnight uyab."

With a sigh, I placed my phone on the nightstand and headed to the bathroom.
