YVES
"Why are you giving me this, Mom?" I asked, my brow furrowing as she placed her credit card on the table between us.
"I know your dad cut up your card, so I'm giving you this para you have money to spend on." she explained, her voice gentle, but there was a hint of something guilt maybe.
We were sitting at a VIP table in CV (CASH'E VILLE), on the second floor. She had called me early this morning, asking me to meet her. I wasn't expecting much dahil hindi naman siya usually nag-iinitiate ng ganitong mga bagay, lalo na't busy siya palagi sa company.
But she said she wanted to make up for everything, and since I didn't have any classes today, I decided to come.
I picked up the card, staring at it for a moment. "Thanks, Mom." I said, offering her a small smile.
Sakto namang dumating na ang pagkain namin. Uyab was the one serving our table. She was wearing her work uniform.
I tried to catch her eye, but she just nodded at me before placing the food down and moving on to the next table.
Hindi ko maiwasang mag alangan kung sasabihin ko ba kay Mom yung nangyari sa bar or wag na lang.
But still, she's my Mom at kailangan nyang malaman yon.
Nang marinig niya ang kwento ko kung paano ako halos pilitin ni Maki ng gabing iyon, agad niyang binagsak ang kubyertos.
"What? He did that? That spoiled brat-I'm going to kick his balls for doing that to you!"
"Mom, calm down."
"No, I won’t just sit here and do nothing while someone like him thinks he can get away with this! I’m not letting this slide!" galit na galit niyang sabi, halos tumaas na rin ang boses niya.
"Mom, it's fine, really." I chuckled softly. "I'm okay. Stop overreacting."
She shook her head, still visibly upset. "I can't believe he would do that. He's been your best friend for years, Yves. And this is how he treats you?! How dare he even think of doing something like that to you!" Her voice cracked a little, and I could see the disappointment in her eyes. "How could he...?"
"People change, Mom. Especially when they don't get what they want." I reached out, habang inaabot ang kamay niya na nakapatong sa lamesa.
"But there's no need to worry. Nico was there to save me."
She softened and she took a deep breath. "Still, your Dad needs to know about this."
I gently squeezed her hand, shaking my head. "No, Mom. If Dad finds out, he'll just use it as another excuse to control everything. He'll find a way to twist this, and... malalaman niya lang na nagkita tayo."
Nakita ko sa mata niya ang bahagyang pamumuo ng luha. I could see how much she was trying to hold herself together, to be strong for me.
"I'm on your side, Yves." she said softly, her voice trembling. "I'm going to help you get out of this mess with Maki. Tutulungan kitang hindi makasal sa brat na 'yon."
I smiled at her. "Thank you, Mom."
We continued eating in silence for a while, but it wasn't uncomfortable. There was an understanding between us now-a sense of peace I hadn't felt with her in a long time. It felt like we were finally on the same page, like I wasn't alone in this anymore.
"I want to meet this Nico girl." she said, out of nowhere.
Napatigil ako.
I blinked, staring at her to see if she was joking. "Are you sure, Mom?"
