YVES

Pagdating ko, I spotted Maki, laughing with his circle of friends. I clenched my fists as I walked straight toward him.

"Can I talk to you, Maki?"

Maki’s grin widened the moment he saw me, like he knew exactly what was coming.

With a flick of his hand, he signaled to his group na agad namang lumabas ng room.

Now, it was just the two of us.

"What is it?" he asked, leaning casually against a desk, that smug look never leaving his face.

"W-why did you do that?" I demanded, my voice shaking slightly.

"Do what?" He tilted his head pretending to think, then let out a laugh like this was all some kind of joke.

I rolled my eyes.

"You know exactly what I’m talking about, so stop playing dumb." I shot back, glaring at him.

"Ohhh, you mean the part where I—let's just say—humiliated your girl? Or maybe when I pushed her last buttons so I let myself get punched, just to make sure everyone would see me as the victim?" he said, habang hinawakan pa ang kanyang sugat sa labi. “Or maybe you’re talking about how I lied to the disciplinary office?”

I froze, my blood turning cold. I knew it.

He had planned all of this.

"Well?" His voice dropped to a low growl, challenging. "Which one, Yves?"

I clenched my fists, trying to steady my breathing.

"Answer me!" he suddenly shouted, the sound echoing violently in the empty room before laughing again.

"Baliw ka." pabulong kong sagot, pero alam kong narinig niya.

“Yeah, I’m fucking crazy, Yves." he spat, his eyes darkening. "Crazy enough to destroy the both of you." tumigil siya sandali at tumingin sa mga mata ko. "Hindi ko hahayaang maging masaya kayo. I won’t stop until you’re begging to come back to me.”

“You think humiliating me and Nico will change my mind? I’ll somehow crawl back to you? Let me make one thing crystal clear—there is nothing, nothing you can say or do that will make me want you.” I hissed, stepping closer to him.

Maki’s face twisted into something darker, something almost unrecognizable.

"Kaya nga tinalikuran mo sarili mong pamilya, di ba? Para kanino? That waitress? I can give you everything you want pero mas pinili mo yung hampaslupa na yon."

"Don't fucking insult her! You might have all the money in the world, all the status, but you lack the one thing that actually matters—respect. That’s something you’ll never understand." madiin kong sabi sa kanya.

Maki chuckled, as he slowly rubbed his cheek where my hand had landed.

"You think you’re better than everyone because of your name, because of your money? Guess what, Maki—those things don’t make you a man."

Mas lalong dumilim ang mukha niya, but he stayed silent.

I took another step closer. "Love isn’t always about money, Maki. Maybe in your twisted world, that’s how you see it. But real love? You’ll never understand it. Not with a mindset like yours."
