YVES

It was the first day of the second semester in our third year. Kasama ko ang girls na nagpaenroll kahapon and things were starting to feel normal again. Hindi ko na rin binanggit sa kanila ang nangyari sa bar.

After all, Maki and I hadn't crossed paths again, and it was already two weeks ago.

So I figured there was no need to bring it up. For now, I just wanted to focus on getting through the day.

I was in the kitchen, making a simple breakfast for Uyab and me. Pancakes sizzled on the pan. I had also prepared eggs and some fruit on the side, making sure everything was perfect.

I was in the middle of flipping the pancake when I felt arms wrap around my waist from behind, pulling me into a gentle embrace.

It was Uyab.

"Good morning, Uyab." I greeted her with a soft smile.

She didn't respond with words, just a quiet hum.

Ramdam ko ang bigat ng ulo niya na dahan-dahang isinandal sa balikat ko. Her arms tightened a little, pulling me closer. It was a full, comforting backhug.

"What's wrong? Hmm?" I asked softly, tilting my head slightly as I tried to glance at her.

"Nothing." she mumbled, her voice muffled as she pressed her cheek against me. "I just wanted to hug you."

Ever since that night at the bar, she had been more clingy, more affectionate, and I couldn't deny that I liked it. She had never once made me feel ashamed of what had happened.

If anything, she was more attentive, and I was starting to feel confused by the signals she was giving me. She had always been the grumpy and composed one, but lately, I had been seeing more of her soft side.

I smiled to myself, feeling my heart swell with something warm. "You can sit now, I'm almost done here." I said, gently tapping her hand that was still wrapped around my waist.

"Five more minutes." she murmured, not loosening her hold on me, her breath brushing softly against my neck.

I chuckled under my breath, turning off the stove so I could give her my full attention. Humarap ako sa kanya, hinayaan ang sarili kong yakapin siya pabalik.

I wrapped my arms around her, pulling her into a full embrace. She didn't resist-in fact, she buried her face deeper into the crook of my neck, her arms tightening around me as if she didn't want to let go.

Her breath was warm against my skin, sending shivers down my spine, but in the best possible way. I could feel her heartbeat against mine, steady and reassuring, and I found myself relaxing into her hold.

"Uyab?" I whispered, the word catching in my throat.

She hummed softly. "Mmm?"

"Ano ba tayo?" My chin rested on the top of her head as I waited for her response.

"Mmm?" she hummed again.

This side of her, the one that made me feel safe and cared for, was something I had been seeing more and more recently. It was confusing, but it was also... nice. She was giving me so many mixed signals, and I wasn't sure how to feel about it.

"What relation do we have?" My voice came out softer than I intended.

"Akala ko ba..." she began, lifting her eyes to meet mine. "You're gonna wait for me until I'm ready?"
