The City, The Metropolitan Area

Andrea Dumitrescu and Momcilo Milutinovic were walking quietly in a park, which was illuminated by the city lights and by public lighting; they weren't the only ones, as some other people also were also enjoying the amenities of that big park. The Serbian's bodyguards walked a little at a distance so as not to bother them, but close enough to make sure they were okay.

-So... How did you find me?

-I also have my contacts.

-Ha, ha... you say that as if I had many.

-What did I tell you about lying to me?

-There aren't many, Andi - the man shrugs his shoulders, trying to pretend that he was being cynic-.

-Maybe not, but it seems that you got new best friends.

-They serve my purpose.

-You're so rude - the Romanian says it in a sing-song way, but with a slightly condescending tone -. I wouldn't consider someone as special as Tatiana like "someone who serve to my purpose".

-Look at those things that your contact tells you.

-I'd appreciate if you wouldn't treat me like an idiot.

-I don't, it's just that "being too smart" in our world can be a capital sin, and I try to prevent you from being one.

-And what did you promise Tatiana so that she agreed to get involved with you and her family? She told me thousands of times how much she didn't wanted to be involved with them anymore.

-Andreea - here the Serbian speaks to the redhead with the real pronunciation of her name - if you don't want to feel that I treat you like an idiot, you better understand that there are times when people don't need someone else to make a decision. I was only a tool for her to achieve her goal, just as other people use me as a tool for their goals. That's all I'll say about it; now, if you'll excuse me...

But Andrea stood in Momcilo's way.

-Yes, there are people who use you as a tool, but once they see that that tool isn't working for them, they'll throw you away. Or do you think I don't know that, in addition to being with my brother and Tatiana, you're also involved with the INTCEN?

-Did your contact tell you that too?

-Yes, but I preferred to find it out for myself. I know about your trip to Serbia.

-But what the...? Are you an idiot or what? –Momcilo scolds Bunny, who kept a serious, yet somewhat sad face-. Do you know what could have happened to you if they discover you? If something happens to you, I... I...

-Momcilo, I did it because I know that you're dwelling into dangerous territory. Tatiana has some protection at least. But what kind of protection do you have? My brother's? You don't know how he'll react if he finds out you're working for those guys; and I don't know if they really like what you're doing.

-I know very well the risks I'm taking, and so does she; you're the one who seems to ignore it by doing stupid things like that. If something happens to you, then I can assure that your brother will never forgive me; but I think it's more likely that he'll forgive me than I will forgive myself if something happens to you.

Andrea takes the Serbian's face with her hands.

-And I wouldn't forgive myself either if something happens to you.

-And tell me, what are you going to do?

-What I wanted was to win this tournament to get Tatiana and me out of this life; to make our pasts separate from that lineage we have. I appreciate everything my brother did for me, but I'll only be free once I take out that bond that I have with he and his world... and he understands that. Tatiana... I don't know why now it seems that she preferred to tie herself to that destiny from which she could have escaped; personally, I don't think she's capable of getting out... or that she wants to.
