Chapter 32 Through the Fire

Suddenly, a voice from behind caught the attention of Allura, Keyleth, Lydie and Axel. They turned seeing a bright purple glow of Bigby's hand as Scanlan was riding it.

"See, told you they'd come." Axel said.

"Scanlan." Keyleth breathed with a smile.

"Keyleth, if we fetch your friends, could you, Lydia, and Axel buy us some time?" Allura asked as Kima took her hand.

Keyleth blinked, "I mean, we can certainly try." she answered. 

"Don't worry Lady Allura. We'll do our best." Lydie said confidently. 

Allura nods with a smile and with a flash of white light, Allura and Kima vanished. 

"More's coming through!" One of the fire tamers cried as they tried to hold back the on going wave of fire fiends that protrude from the portal. 

Rafael turned to the three, "Come, we don't have much time." The three nod and rush towards the rift.

Phoebe swiped the air sending a gust of wind to fend off against the fire fiends. She had a feeling that Keyleth may be on to something, but never would she imagine seeing her people's home decimated. 

She dodges another fire fiend countering by thrusting a hand forward, summon a ray of frost. Once the fiend turned into ash, she turned finding familiar figures that appeared beside Vex. It was Allura and Kima. If these two were here that would mean...she quickly ran towards them.

"Allura f*cking Vysoren!" Pike cheered.

"Not my middle name, but I'm pleased to see you as well. Quickly, Lydie, Axel and his highness and Keyleth and her father need our help." Allura ushered the group to follow her.

"How are you here?" Percy questioned. "In Emon, we saw..."

"Allura and Prince Rafael saved us. When the tower fell, they whisked us away at the last second. Nearly shat my armor." Kima explained.

"We knew if Thordak was free, it meant the rift was open." Allura added.

"Hold up, Thordak came through Pyrah? How did he even know it was him?" Pike asked.

"Because we are the reason he escaped." she revealed glancing at Phoebe.  " Years ago, Kima, your parents, and I battled Thordak with a group, not unlike yours. But we were outmatched. In a desperate attempt, we got hold of an ancient artifact, the Soul Anchor, and decided to bind him to it. Like an arcane tether, it pulled Thordak into the Fire Plane, but it was not enough. Your mother, Lady Maleighna  sacrificed herself by imprisoning him there forever. Or so we thought." 

Phoebe's eyes widen by her explanation, until suddenly, she hears a faint heart beat causing her to gasp. With full resolution, she shifted into leopard dashing up towards the volcano leaving the rest behind.

The Fire tamers and Rafael kept their concentration on the portal, while Lydie and Axel was busy fending off the fire fiends with her magic, trying to keep cover as Keyleth and her father approached the portal. 

"Come. Stay close." Korrin spoke as Keyleth stops and looks p at the portal, "All right, Keyleth, this is it." he said, turning to her. 

Keyleth's eyes widen in fear as she slowly steps back, "No, I-I can't, I can't do it." she said shaking her head but Korrin walks toward her and held her shoulders.

"Of course you can. You're as strong as your mother. Maybe even stronger." he said with a smile as he brush back a strand of her hair behind her ear and kisses her forehead.
