Odette
The constant noise around me only increased my nerves. Everything was beeping, clicking, or shuffling. That was on top of the constant chatter from people around me and the intercom.
Airports are usually a fun place for me. I loved the constant movement and knowing I was heading to a new place. However today I wasn't going anywhere. Silas was.
It have been five days since we officially planned his departure and now I was forced to follow through with it. I had never been this attached to anyone and I knew it was ridiculous. I shouldn't be this sad or anxious at him leaving. He would be fine and be home in four days. I recognized that but the feeling never faded.
After being in his constant presence for so long this was going to be a change in my life. A short and horrible change.
I also recognized that this intensity was probably an enhanced version of what I was really feeling due to the mark. I loved that it brought us closer but I wished the sad emotions would go back to normal.
Even with my acknowledgement to the insanity of my obsessive worries I was standing pressed against Silas in the middle of the airport entrance. There were a row of baggage weighting machines off to the side then the check in area. We were waiting for the others to punch in their ticket numbers to get a luggage tag. Trey and Natelie was here but I didn't recognize the other men.
I watched as the last man received his luggage tag. He pulled it out of the machine and took a few seconds attaching it to his bag.
I wished he was slower. Silas's hand rubbed up and down, following the curve of my side. He already check in fully, his luggage probably on the way to the plane by now.
As the man brought his luggage to the drop off area Silas leaned down and kiss the top of my head. The action told me it was time to go.
I felt a sinking feeling in my heart but ignored it. He was going to be back in four days. It was a short period of time. I was going to have to work on this intensity thing.
But right now I didn't. I turned to him and hugged him. He hugged me back, pressing another kiss to the top of my head.
"I'll call you when I land," he promised.
I pulled back enough so I could tip my head up to see his face. "Just be safe okay?"
He cupped the side of my face, tilting down so he could kiss me. "I promise."
I knew he could handle himself but I wasn't sure what was going to happen. Those people were crazy and they had a wolf working with them. Not to mention if they had to hunt them down it was probably going to lead back to the swamp.
That brought a different level of danger.
The days leading up to his departure I had told him everything I could remember. I explained it was somewhere south of my home and gave him my address. I described the wolf as best as I could and the people who took me.
I pushed up on my toes to kiss him again. I didn't try to make it super long or too passionate, I just wanted to kiss him one more time before he left. I pulled away. "I love you," I said quietly.
He smiled. "I love you too."
As the others started to make their way further into the airport I let him go. Natalie came to stand by me and we watched Silas and Trey disappear into the crowd.
I turned to Natalie and she smiled. "Ready?"
"Yeah," I said.
We both walked out of the entrance and through the covered parking until we reached her car.
