Silas
As my eyes opened they immediately searched for Odette. They landed on her sleeping figure. She had curled into herself with her back pressed against a tree about ten feet from me. My heart clenched at the image.
Getting up I went to the bag I had carried back here and grabbed my pants. My muscles ached with each motion. Once I had them on I quietly walked up to her.
I leaned down, wrapping one arm around her back and under her folded knees then picked her up. I was careful to be slow and gentle so I didn't wake her. It was still early, probably close to five.
She shifted anyway, her head dropping to my chest as she let out a deep sigh. Happiness twisted in my chest. I smiled down at her as her breathing evened out again.
I carried her into my room, laying her down then I pulled the covers over her. As quietly as I could I moved around the room to get new clothes then went into the bathroom. I was covered in dirt so I wanted to shower first.
Last night I knew I would end up back at the house but I didn't think she would come out. I figured she would be asleep. Then when I saw her in the office and she looked out the window I thought she left to go to bed, or at least away from the window.
I wasn't even a tiny bit upset at the action. I was honest when I told her it didn't make me sad that she might be scared of me in my Lycan form still. I understood why she would be. However she surprised me when she opened the back door and stepped out.
The entire time she was by the door, and a few feet from it, I was frozen. I knew her eyesight wasn't as good because she was human. I didn't want to immediately step out and scare her on accident.
I wanted her to set the pace. I knew she could see me fully when her eyes ran over my form. I was happy not to see fear, she looked curious. Then I did something I've never done before. I tried to make myself small.
It was difficult considering there was only so far I could go. I made every action slow and submissive, folding my ears back and lowering to the ground.
When she approached me further I forced myself to hold still. I was excited that she wanted to be closer. After everything that's happened it showed she trusted me. That she wasn't afraid.
When her fingers touched my head I made a sound to signal my delight. I thought I had made it a higher pitch so it didn't register differently to her ears.
I realized my mistake as she jerked her hand back. The noise startled her. After that I didn't make a single sound. Apparently my high pitch wasn't high enough.
To further her comfort I pressed my head to her chest. Amongst wolves it signaled comfort seeking behavior, another submissive action.
After my action she relaxed completely. It brought me deep satisfaction. We stayed like that for a while before I moved to fully lay down. She ended up sitting next to me, still running her fingers across my head and neck.
I don't remember when she moved to the tree. Shifting back usually isn't something I remember so I think it was during that.
I changed into sweats and a shirt, rubbing the towel through my hair so it wasn't as wet. I put it up on the hanger then went back out into the room. She was still asleep in the bed but she had turned so she faced me.
I walked across the room and got into the bed, gently moving close to her before collecting her in my arms. Just like before she pushed out a deep sigh. Her small fist grabbed my shirt as she tucked her face into my chest.
My skin buzzed at her touch, my heart skipping with her action. I pressed a soft kiss to the top of her head then closed my eyes.
