The shrill sound of the phone ringing pierced through the calmness of the night, disrupting the serene atmosphere around us. Groggily, my eyes fluttered open, blinking slowly as I adjusted to the dim light in the room. As my vision cleared, the first sight that greeted me was Abhinav's peaceful face, resting against my chest. His cheek was pressed against my bare breast, his warm breath creating a rhythm that matched the rise and fall of my own breathing. His dark lashes cast delicate shadows over his sculpted cheekbones, making him look impossibly innocent.
There was something utterly precious about seeing him like this—so peaceful, so vulnerable. My fingers lightly traced the edge of his jawline, marveling at the contrast between his usually sharp, commanding presence and this tender, boyish version of him. My heart swelled with a kind of satisfaction I couldn't quite explain. This moment, with Abhinav wrapped around me so intimately, made everything feel right in the world.
The ringing broke my admiration once more, its shrill tone cutting through the tranquility. His phone was on his side of the bed, just out of my reach. I tried to carefully stretch over him, not wanting to disturb his peaceful slumber. But as I did, Abhinav stirred, his body shifting slightly as he burrowed further into me, his face pressing deeper into the softness of my chest as if seeking refuge from the noise. I couldn't help but smile as he sought comfort instinctively, his arms tightening around me.
I finally managed to grab the phone after a bit of a struggle and silenced it. Abhinav's mother's name flashed on the screen. Worry began to cloud my sleepy mind—why would Maa be calling so early in the morning?
Answering quickly, I spoke in a soft whisper, "Hello, Maa?"
"Ruhi, sorry to disturb you both," Maa's concerned voice came through, "but could you please come downstairs? Wake Abhinav too, there's an emergency."
An emergency? My heart began to race as I glanced over at the clock—it was barely 4 AM. What could possibly be happening at this hour?
"Okay, Maa. We'll be there in a few minutes," I promised, still trying to shake the sleep from my voice.
After ending the call, I gently placed the phone back and turned my attention to Abhinav. He was still resting comfortably, his breathing slow and steady, completely unaware of the situation. I didn't want to wake him, but we didn't have a choice.
"Jaan, wake up," I whispered softly, placing my hand on his shoulder and giving him a gentle shake.
Abhinav let out a low groan, refusing to let go of his grip on me. Instead of waking, he shifted again, this time more playfully. Without warning, his lips found my nipple, and he took it into his mouth, suckling softly in protest. A gasp escaped me at the unexpected sensation, my body responding instantly to his touch. Warmth surged through me, and I bit my lip to keep from moaning too loudly. His tongue flicked teasingly, sending shivers down my spine.
"Jaan, not now," I managed to say breathlessly, as my fingers curled into his hair, torn between waking him and savoring the sensation. "It's an emergency, Maa is calling us."
He let out a babyish whine, still reluctant to wake up fully, his lips still trailing playful kisses along my sensitive skin. "We're newlyweds, Rooh. I deserve more time with my wife," he mumbled, his voice muffled by my body.
