The bright lights of the bustling city reflected on the glass walls of Taehyung's hotel suite, casting long shadows across the luxurious room. He leaned back in his chair, staring blankly at his phone as yet another message from his management buzzed on the screen.

You need to address the dating rumors. They're getting out of control.

Taehyung sighed, running a hand through his tousled hair. Rumors were part of being an idol, he knew that. But lately, the relentless speculation about his love life was causing headaches for his team and invading every aspect of his privacy.

His phone buzzed again—this time, a name he recognized all too well: Y/N.

They had met years ago, back when BTS was still on the rise, and they had stayed in touch, albeit occasionally. Y/N was someone who understood his world but wasn't part of it. A friend, a confidant... someone who made his life feel normal amidst the chaos.

Y/N :Hey Tae, I saw the news... How are you holding up?

Taehyung :Surviving, I guess. It's a mess, as usual. How are you?

Y/N :Good, busy with work as always. So... what are you going to do about all this?

Taehyung hesitated. What was he going to do? The rumors were starting to tarnish his image, and his team was pressuring him to address it publicly.

Suddenly, an idea crossed his mind—a crazy, impulsive idea that could solve all his problems at once.

Taehyung [4:51 PM]:
Actually... I have a question for you. What if... we pretended to date?

Y/N :What? Like... fake date?

Taehyung :Yeah. Hear me out. It's only for the cameras. You know how this industry works. If we do this, it'll stop the rumors and give both of us some space. We'd keep it low-key, and once things calm down, we can "break up."

There was a long pause. Taehyung stared at his phone, regretting sending the message. Why would Y/N agree to something so ridiculous?

Y/N :So, you want me to pretend to be your girlfriend... in front of the entire world?

Taehyung :Yeah, pretty much. No pressure though!

Another pause, longer this time. Taehyung's heart raced. It was a wild idea, but somehow, in the back of his mind, he couldn't shake the thought that Y/N was the only person he trusted enough to do this with.

Finally, the phone buzzed.

Y/N :Let's meet up and talk about it.

As Taehyung walked through the crowded café, his eyes scanned the room until they landed on Y/N, sitting at a corner table, stirring a cup of coffee. They looked up as he approached, offering a small smile. There was a flicker of nervousness in their eyes, but also curiosity.

"Hey," Taehyung greeted, sliding into the seat across from them.

Y/N replied. "So... fake dating, huh?"

He chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck. "Yeah. I know it sounds insane."

Taehyung "You're right. It does sound insane," Y/N said, but there was a playful tone in their voice. "But I get it. The rumors have been wild lately."

Taehyung "I just thought... it would be easy, you know? We already know each other, so it wouldn't feel weird. We could control the narrative."

Y/N leaned back, crossing their arms. "And what's in it for me?"

Taehyung grinned. "The satisfaction of helping your friend out of a tough spot?"

Y/N raised an eyebrow, unimpressed.

"Okay, okay," Taehyung laughed. "I'll owe you. Big time. Anything you want, I'm there."

There was a long silence as Y/N seemed to weigh the decision. Taehyung held his breath, hoping he hadn't completely lost his mind by asking this.

Finally, Y/N sighed, a soft smile tugging at their lips. "You owe me a lot of coffee, Kim Taehyung."

Taehyung's face lit up. "Is that a yes?"

Y/N nodded. "It's a yes."

And just like that, their fake relationship began.

But little did they know, what started as a fake arrangement would soon stir up real emotions—ones neither of them were prepared to face.
