The day of the mysterious meeting arrived. Taehyung and Y/N dressed cautiously, both prepared yet on edge about what awaited them. They arrived at the dimly lit café specified in the message, scanning the room for any sign of the person who had been tormenting them.

After a tense few moments, a woman with a familiar face walked in, her eyes locking onto Taehyung with a determined gaze. It was someone he had known from years ago, an old friend he hadn't seen since his early career days.

"Taehyung," she greeted, her voice low, almost a whisper. "It's been a long time."

Y/N glanced at Taehyung, sensing his surprise. "Why are you doing this?" he asked, his tone calm but edged with frustration.

The woman sighed, her expression a mix of regret and resentment. "You... you left, and you forgot about everyone. About me. I thought... I thought I was special to you."

Taehyung shook his head, trying to remain patient. "I'm sorry if I hurt you, but this is not the way to handle it. My life moved on, and so did yours, I thought. Y/N has nothing to do with our past."

Her eyes flickered toward Y/N, jealousy and bitterness clear. "I watched you fall in love with someone else. I tried to accept it, but seeing you so happy... it was too much. I thought if I reminded you of what we had, maybe—"

"There was nothing to be reminded of," Taehyung cut in gently but firmly. "We were friends. That was all."

Realizing the truth in his words, she softened, a flicker of understanding passing over her face. "I guess... I was just holding onto something that never existed. I'm sorry."

With that, she stood up, sparing Y/N a last, apologetic glance before leaving them alone. Taehyung and Y/N sat in silence for a moment, absorbing the encounter.

"Are you okay?" Y/N asked softly, reaching for his hand.

Taehyung nodded, squeezing their hand in reassurance. "Yes. I'm just relieved it's over. She was a part of my past, but you're my present—and my future."

They left the café, a weight lifted off their shoulders. That night, as they held each other close, Taehyung whispered, "I'll never let anything or anyone come between us again."

In that moment, they knew that no shadow from the past could ever cast a shadow on their future together.
