The tension in the apartment was suffocating as Taehyung and Y/N sifted through the files on the USB drive. Minji's recordings painted a clear picture of Jihoon's manipulations—bribing witnesses, fabricating evidence, and even hiring people to spread rumors online.
"This is it," Y/N said, their voice steady despite the anxiety clawing at them. "This is what we need to end this."
Taehyung nodded but didn't look up. He was staring at one particular email, his brow furrowed. "This one... he's planning something for the final hearing. Something bigger."
"What do you mean?" Y/N asked, leaning closer.
Taehyung pointed at the email thread. "He's trying to plant a fake witness—a supposed 'friend' of mine who'll testify that I've been lying about everything. It's all here, including payments he's already made."
Y/N's stomach churned. "He's really willing to ruin lives just to win, isn't he?"
Taehyung shut the laptop, his jaw tight. "We can't let him. We'll give this to the legal team tomorrow. Jihoon's house of cards is about to collapse."
The next day, Taehyung and Y/N met with their lawyers, presenting Minji's evidence. Their legal team was stunned but immediately formulated a plan to introduce it during the final hearing. "This is enough to not only discredit Jihoon but also file countercharges," the lead attorney said with confidence.
As the final hearing approached, Jihoon made his next move. A scandalous article surfaced, accusing Taehyung of secretly paying off Minji to fabricate evidence against Jihoon.
"This is his desperate attempt to flip the narrative," Taehyung said as they read the article together.
Y/N clenched their fists. "How do we fight this? People might believe him again."
"We stick to the truth," Taehyung replied firmly. "And we expose him for the liar he is."
The day of the final hearing arrived, and the courtroom was filled with tension. Jihoon's lawyer called their surprise witness, a man claiming to be Taehyung's close friend.
"I was paid by Taehyung to spread lies about Jihoon," the man testified confidently, throwing the court into a frenzy.
Taehyung's lawyer stood, calm and collected. "Your Honor, we have evidence that directly contradicts this testimony."
The courtroom held its breath as the lawyer played one of Minji's recordings. In it, Jihoon was heard instructing the same man to lie on the stand, offering him a substantial payment in return.
The color drained from Jihoon's face. Taehyung and Y/N watched as the judge demanded silence, his gavel echoing in the room.
When the court reconvened after a brief recess, the judge declared Jihoon's claims baseless and dismissed the case. Furthermore, he recommended an investigation into Jihoon's illegal activities, including witness tampering and defamation.
Outside the courthouse, a crowd of fans and reporters cheered for Taehyung and Y/N. Jihoon was nowhere to be seen, having slunk away in defeat.
As they stood before the cameras, Taehyung held Y/N's hand tightly. "The truth always wins," he said, his voice steady. "And so does love."
Y/N looked up at him, a smile breaking through their exhaustion. "We did it."
But as they walked away, hand in hand, a small part of them couldn't help but wonder—was this really the end of Jihoon's schemes?
To be continued...
