A Heart In Conflict

The hours stretched into the early morning, and Y/N lay in bed, staring at the ceiling. The words Taehyung had left with echoed in their mind, refusing to let them sleep. "I can't wait forever." His voice had been filled with so much emotion—pain, hope, and disappointment all wrapped into one.

Y/N turned over, pulling the blanket tighter, but no matter how much they tried to block it out, the truth was unavoidable: they had feelings for Taehyung, but the fear of everything crashing down had kept them from fully embracing it.

What if it went wrong? What if, after crossing that line, everything fell apart and left them with nothing but heartbreak? The public eye would only make things worse—rumors, media, fans—all waiting for something to go wrong. But now, sitting here alone, Y/N realized that pushing Taehyung away felt even worse.

The next day, Y/N was still lost in thought. Everything seemed surreal. Texts from friends and messages from fans filled their phone after the charity event, but none of it seemed to matter. The only thing that mattered was what Y/N was going to do next.

A knock on the door startled them out of their thoughts. For a brief moment, they hoped it was Taehyung, but when they opened the door, it was their friend, Lia. She stepped inside with a concerned expression.

"Hey... I saw the pictures and read the headlines. Are you okay?" Lia asked, sitting down on the couch.

Y/N sighed, feeling the weight of everything all over again. "Not really. Things got complicated."

Lia raised an eyebrow. "Complicated how?"

Y/N hesitated, not sure where to start. "Taehyung... he's ready for something real, but I'm not sure if I am. I mean, this whole thing started off as fake, and now... I'm scared."

Lia leaned back, crossing her arms. "Look, I get that relationships can be scary, especially when it's in the public eye, but you've got to ask yourself—what's scarier? Losing him because you're afraid or taking a chance and seeing where this could go?"

Y/N stared at her, the weight of her words sinking in. It was something they hadn't truly allowed themselves to think about until now.

"I don't know," Y/N whispered. "I'm just so afraid of getting hurt."

Lia gave a small smile. "You might get hurt. But that's part of the risk, right? I've seen the way you look at him, Y/N. I think it's worth the risk."

Her words left Y/N in silence. Deep down, they knew she was right. The fear was real, but so were their feelings for Taehyung. They couldn't keep running from it.

"Do you think I should tell him?" Y/N asked, their voice small.

Lia nodded firmly. "Yes. Before it's too late."

Y/N took a deep breath, feeling the decision solidify in their chest. They couldn't keep dragging this out. They needed to be honest, not just with Taehyung, but with themselves.

Later that evening, Y/N found themselves standing in front of Taehyung's hotel room door, heart pounding in their chest. What if he didn't want to hear it? What if they were too late? But Y/N couldn't keep second-guessing. It was now or never.

With a deep breath, they knocked on the door.

Taehyung opened it, surprised to see them standing there. His eyes flickered with a mix of emotions—surprise, hesitation, and something else Y/N couldn't quite place.

"Y/N..." he started, his voice low.

"I know I should have said this sooner," Y/N interrupted, before they could lose their nerve. "But I'm ready. I'm ready to stop being scared and take a chance on us... if you're still willing to."

Taehyung blinked, processing their words. For a moment, Y/N feared it was too late, that they'd waited too long and he'd already moved on. But then, slowly, a smile tugged at the corners of his mouth.

"Are you sure?" he asked quietly, stepping closer. "Because I don't want to do this halfway. If we do this, it's all in."

Y/N nodded, their heart racing. "I'm sure. I'm all in."

Taehyung's smile grew, and before Y/N could say anything else, he pulled them into a tight embrace. The warmth of his arms, the sound of his steady heartbeat—it was everything Y/N had been missing.

"You have no idea how long I've waited to hear that," Taehyung whispered into their ear.

Y/N closed their eyes, letting the relief wash over them. For the first time in weeks, everything felt right. The fear was still there, but it was no longer the thing holding them back.

As they pulled away, Taehyung looked at Y/N with that familiar spark in his eyes, the one that had been there all along but was now even brighter.

"So," he said with a grin, "what do we do now?"

Y/N smiled, feeling lighter than they had in days. "We stop pretending. We just... be ourselves."

Taehyung chuckled softly. "I like the sound of that."

But just as the moment seemed to settle, Taehyung's phone buzzed, interrupting their peace. He glanced at it, his expression shifting slightly as he read the message.

"What is it?" Y/N asked, concerned.

Taehyung sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. "It's my manager. There's a lot of buzz about us right now... and they want us to make a statement about our relationship. Apparently, the rumors are getting out of hand."

Y/N's stomach tightened. Even though they were ready to be real, the thought of making everything public so soon was daunting. Taehyung saw the hesitation in their eyes and reached for their hand.

"We'll do it on our terms," he said firmly. "When we're ready. Not because they want us to."

Y/N nodded, feeling reassured. The world would find out eventually, but for now, they had something real, something just for them. And that was enough.
