The moment they slipped away from the flashing cameras, Taehyung and Y/N found themselves running through the back streets of the city, the excitement of being chased mingling with the tension between them. Taehyung's mind raced, trying to process the sudden chaos. His heart pounded in his chest, not from the sprint but from the growing sense that their fake relationship was quickly spiraling out of control.
They finally stopped in front of a small convenience store, the soft glow of neon lights illuminating their flushed faces. Taehyung glanced at Y/N, still catching their breath.
"We can't keep running from this," Y/N said, leaning against the store's wall. "What did your manager say? What's happening?"
Taehyung hesitated, feeling the weight of what he was about to reveal. "They think something bigger is going on. Someone leaked our plan."
Y/N's eyes widened. "Leaked? You mean people know it's fake?"
"I don't know for sure, but my manager thinks someone close to us might've talked. The media is looking into everything—us, the rumors, our backstory. They're digging deeper than we expected."
Y/N let out a frustrated sigh, rubbing their temples. "This was supposed to be simple. Now it's turning into a circus."
"I didn't want it to be like this," Taehyung said, his voice soft. He moved closer, his eyes searching Y/N's for any sign of doubt. "But I swear, I'll protect you from all of this."
Y/N looked up at him, their expression softening. "I trust you, Tae. But what if this blows up in our faces? We could lose control of the whole narrative."
Before Taehyung could answer, his phone buzzed again. He glanced at the screen—more messages from his manager, urgent ones. He groaned in frustration.
"I need to get back to the hotel and figure this out," he said. "But..."
Y/N looked at him, their voice hesitant. "But what?"
He paused, searching for the right words. "You need to stay low for a while. If the media finds out too much, they'll start coming after you. They'll dig into your life, and I can't let that happen."
Y/N frowned. "And where exactly am I supposed to go? Back to my normal life and pretend none of this is happening?"
Taehyung reached out and took their hand, the warmth of his touch sending a reassuring wave through Y/N. "No. Come back with me to the hotel. I'll make sure no one gets near you. We're in this together."
For a moment, neither of them spoke. The street was quiet, a stark contrast to the chaos they had just escaped. Y/N's mind whirled with uncertainty, but something about the way Taehyung looked at them—his genuine concern, his determination—made them feel safe, even in the midst of this storm.
"Okay," Y/N finally said. "Let's go."
The ride to Taehyung's hotel was quiet, filled with unspoken thoughts. Y/N stared out the window, watching the city blur by, while Taehyung's grip on the steering wheel tightened with every passing moment.
When they arrived at the hotel, they slipped through the back entrance, avoiding the lobby and any potential paparazzi. Taehyung's team had cleared the floor for privacy, ensuring no one would be able to reach them. But as they walked down the hallway to his suite, the tension between them hung heavy in the air.
Once inside, Taehyung collapsed onto the couch, rubbing his face in frustration. "This is getting out of control."
Y/N sat down beside him, their voice quiet. "What's our next move?"
Taehyung was silent for a moment, deep in thought. "We lay low for a while, let things calm down. The more we engage, the more the media will push. We just have to outlast the storm."
Y/N nodded, but something else was nagging at the back of their mind. "Taehyung... do you think this fake relationship is still worth it? I mean, what if this goes too far? What if we can't turn back?"
Taehyung turned to face them, his expression serious. "I don't know. But I do know one thing."
"What's that?"
He leaned closer, his voice dropping to a soft whisper. "I'm not faking how much I care about you."
Y/N's breath hitched, their eyes searching his for any sign that this was still part of the act. But the sincerity in his gaze was undeniable.
Before either of them could say more, there was a loud knock on the door. Taehyung jumped up, his body instantly tensing. "Who could that be?"
Y/N's heart pounded as Taehyung cautiously approached the door. His manager wasn't supposed to arrive for another hour. Could it be the paparazzi? Had they been found?
Taehyung glanced through the peephole, his shoulders stiffening.
"It's... it's someone from the press," he whispered, his eyes wide with shock. "They're here."
To be continued...
