The coastal town had become a haven for Taehyung and Y/N. For the first time in weeks, they could be themselves without the constant pressure of cameras and the public eye. They spent their days exploring the beach, cooking meals together, and getting lost in quiet conversations that went late into the night. It was as if the outside world had faded, and they were wrapped in a calm they'd both been craving.
But as their mini-vacation wore on, Taehyung seemed more distant, slipping into moments of silence Y/N hadn't seen before. At first, Y/N brushed it off as fatigue, but the pauses grew longer, his gaze more contemplative. One evening, as they sat watching the stars, Y/N finally gathered the courage to ask, "Is something on your mind, Tae?"
Taehyung looked over at them, his expression softening. "You noticed?" he asked, a hint of surprise in his voice.
Y/N nodded, their gaze steady. "I know when something's bothering you."
He sighed, glancing back at the waves as they crashed against the shore. "I guess I didn't realize how much pressure I'd put on you. All this... the media, the rumors... it's a lot, and I didn't mean for you to have to go through it."
Y/N reached out, taking his hand. "You don't have to apologize for that. I knew what I was getting into. I chose to be with you, and I don't regret it."
Taehyung smiled faintly but still seemed troubled. "It's just... there's something I haven't told you. I've wanted to, but with everything going on, I didn't know how."
Y/N's heart skipped a beat, nervous at the serious tone in his voice. "What is it?"
Taehyung hesitated before finally speaking. "The rumors... they're not just rumors. There's a story that's going to come out soon. It's... complicated, but there's someone from my past who might try to make things difficult."
Y/N felt a pang of unease but tried to remain calm. "Someone from your past? Who?"
Taehyung took a deep breath, clearly conflicted. "It was before we met, but I used to date someone who's still in the industry. We ended things, but it wasn't on the best terms. I thought it was over, but... she's been reaching out, trying to stir things up now that we're public."
Y/N's mind raced, piecing together the implications. "So... she might go to the media?"
Taehyung nodded, regret etched across his face. "I didn't want you to find out this way, and I didn't want her to bring drama into our lives. But I don't want to keep secrets from you either."
Y/N felt a rush of emotions—fear, confusion, and an ache of insecurity. But as they looked into Taehyung's eyes, they saw nothing but sincerity. He hadn't tried to hide this; he'd just been trying to protect them.
"Thank you for telling me," Y/N said softly. "We'll face it together, right?"
Taehyung's shoulders seemed to relax, and he reached out, wrapping them in a gentle hug. "Of course. I won't let anything come between us. I promise."
They stayed like that, holding each other as the waves crashed around them, both feeling the weight of an uncertain future. The calm of the ocean was their only witness, but they knew this peace might not last much longer.
As they walked back to the cottage, hand in hand, Y/N couldn't shake the feeling that their relationship was about to be tested. Secrets and lies threatened to rise to the surface, but Y/N resolved to stay by Taehyung's side, no matter what.
