The door clicked shut behind Taehyung, leaving Y/N alone in the quiet hotel room. Their mind spun, replaying the kiss over and over. It had been brief—just a part of the plan, right? But the way Taehyung's lips felt on theirs, the way his eyes lingered afterward, it all felt too real. Y/N rubbed their temples, trying to shake off the confusing thoughts.
After a few minutes, they stood and wandered to the window, peeking through the curtains at the city below. The lights flickered, alive with the bustle of people who had no idea about the chaos unfolding inside their own hearts. Y/N sighed, wondering how long they could keep up this charade before something broke.
Just then, their phone buzzed. A message from Taehyung flashed on the screen:
We need to talk. Meet me in the lounge in 10.
Y/N's heart skipped a beat. He wanted to talk about the kiss—that much was clear. They quickly changed into something more casual, trying to appear composed, but their hands shook as they fixed their hair.
In the hotel lounge, Taehyung was waiting at a table near the corner, his expression more serious than usual. He looked up when Y/N approached, gesturing for them to sit. The atmosphere between them was thick with tension, neither of them quite sure how to start.
Taehyung broke the silence first. "About earlier..."
Y/N held their breath, waiting for him to continue.
"That kiss," Taehyung began, his voice low, "I know it was part of the plan, but... it didn't feel like just an act to me."
Y/N's heart pounded in their chest, the words they had been dreading finally hanging in the air. "It didn't?" they asked softly, unsure of where this conversation was heading.
Taehyung shook his head. "No. I think... I've been pretending so long, I didn't realize when I stopped faking it."
Y/N stared at him, their mind racing. Was he saying what they thought he was saying? "So, what are you trying to say, Taehyung?"
He looked down at his hands, a rare vulnerability in his eyes. "I don't know if it's just because of the situation we're in, or if it's been building for a while, but... I think I'm starting to feel something real."
Y/N's breath hitched. They had felt something shift too, but hearing him admit it out loud made everything suddenly much more complicated. "Taehyung, this is dangerous," they whispered. "We agreed to keep this fake."
"I know," Taehyung said, his voice soft but firm. "But sometimes things don't go the way you plan. I can't help how I feel."
Y/N looked down, trying to sort through their emotions. They had never expected this to go beyond the fake relationship they'd set up. But now, standing on the edge of something deeper, they weren't sure what to do.
Before either of them could say more, a loud ring interrupted the moment. Taehyung glanced at his phone and frowned. "It's my manager again," he said, standing up. "I need to take this."
Y/N nodded, feeling a strange mix of relief and disappointment as he stepped away. Alone again, they tried to catch their breath. The situation had just gotten a lot more complicated, and Y/N wasn't sure if they were ready for what was coming next.
As Taehyung paced outside the lounge, speaking in hushed tones, Y/N couldn't shake the feeling that things were only going to get messier from here. The lines between reality and the act they'd been playing were blurring, and it was only a matter of time before something—or someone—got hurt.
