The Past Returns

After the gala, Taehyung and Y/N felt like they were floating. The night had gone perfectly—both the media and the fans had responded positively, with headlines everywhere declaring them the "couple of the night." It seemed like they had finally turned a new page, free from the drama that had plagued their relationship.

But just when they thought the past was behind them, an unexpected message arrived on Y/N's phone. It was a name they hadn't seen in months—Taehyung's ex. The one who had spread lies and nearly destroyed everything.

Y/N's heart pounded as they opened the message, reading it carefully. It was a short message but with a loaded invitation: "I want to talk. There's something you need to know about Taehyung."

Y/N felt a strange mixture of fear and curiosity. Why was she reaching out now? What could she possibly say that would matter?

Lost in thought, Y/N didn't notice Taehyung walking up behind them. "What's got you so serious?" he asked, catching the tension in their expression.

Y/N looked up, unsure of how to respond. "It's... it's a message from your ex. She says there's something I need to know about you."

Taehyung's face went from surprise to frustration in an instant. "Why can't she just let us be?" he muttered, running a hand through his hair. "She's probably just trying to mess with us again. You don't have to listen to anything she says."

Y/N wanted to believe him, but the seed of doubt had already been planted. "What if she's telling the truth? What if there's something important?"

Taehyung sighed, clearly struggling. "Look, if there's something you want to ask me, just ask. I'll tell you the truth. I don't want her causing problems between us."

Y/N nodded, still holding the phone tightly. "I know, and I do trust you. But maybe hearing her out will put an end to all this once and for all."

Reluctantly, Taehyung agreed. "Fine. But we'll go together. I don't want you facing her alone."

The next evening, they arranged to meet her at a small, quiet café outside of town. Taehyung and Y/N entered the café hand in hand, determined to face whatever she had to say together. His ex was already seated, looking tense as they approached. She glanced up, her eyes shifting between Taehyung and Y/N with an unreadable expression.

"Thank you for coming," she said quietly. "I know I have no right to ask for your time after everything that's happened. But I wanted to come clean."

Y/N glanced at Taehyung, who was watching her carefully, his jaw tight. "We're here. Say what you need to say," he replied, his voice cool.

She took a deep breath, looking almost regretful. "I lied about a lot of things... I admit that. But there's something else." Her gaze moved to Y/N, her tone softer. "I know I hurt you both, and that's on me. But the truth is... I was still in love with Taehyung. That's why I tried to sabotage you. It was wrong, and I've come to regret it."

Taehyung clenched his jaw but didn't interrupt, allowing her to continue.

"I just wanted to apologize to both of you," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "Seeing you two at the gala, I realized how real your love is. I thought if I could create doubts, it might bring him back to me. But I see now that I was just holding onto something that was never meant to be."

A silence fell over the table as Taehyung processed her words. He finally spoke, his tone firm but not unkind. "I appreciate the apology, but nothing justifies what you did. I hope you find peace, but we're moving on from this."

His ex nodded, looking at Y/N with genuine remorse in her eyes. "I understand. I'm sorry, and I hope you can both be happy."

As they left the café, Taehyung and Y/N felt a strange sense of relief. It was as if a weight had finally been lifted. The scars of the past would always be there, but now they could move forward without fear, their love stronger than ever.

As they walked back to their car, Taehyung wrapped his arm around Y/N, pulling them close. "Thank you for believing in us. I know she caused a lot of pain, but I'm glad we put this behind us."

Y/N smiled, resting their head on his shoulder. "We're finally free. Nothing's going to come between us again."

They shared a quiet kiss under the streetlight, knowing that whatever challenges lay ahead, they were ready to face them together.
