The drive back to the hotel was quiet, but the air between Y/N and Taehyung felt heavier than before. The events of the evening, especially the reporter's question, had left a lingering tension neither of them could shake. Even though Taehyung had stood up for their relationship, the doubts in Y/N's mind only grew stronger.

As they entered the hotel, the familiar surroundings felt cold and distant. They both headed to their rooms in silence, exchanging only a quick goodnight. Y/N closed the door behind them, leaning against it for a moment, overwhelmed by the whirlwind of emotions.

The truth was, despite Taehyung's reassurance, Y/N wasn't sure what was real anymore. Their feelings had gotten tangled in the web of the fake relationship, and now, with so much at stake, they felt lost. Every time they saw Taehyung, their heart fluttered, but was it real love, or was it just the pressure of pretending for so long?

Y/N's phone buzzed, pulling them out of their thoughts. It was a text from Taehyung.

Can I come over? We need to talk.

A knot formed in Y/N's stomach. They hesitated for a moment before typing back.

Sure.

Moments later, there was a soft knock on the door. Y/N opened it to find Taehyung standing there, looking as tense as they felt. Without a word, he stepped inside, and Y/N closed the door behind him.

Taehyung sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I've been thinking about tonight, about what that reporter said..."

Y/N's heart raced. "And?"

"I realized something," he continued, his voice quiet but firm. "No matter how much we say this is real, the world will always have doubts. But the only thing that matters is whether we believe it."

Y/N sat on the edge of the bed, feeling the weight of his words. "Do you believe it, Tae? Do you really believe this is real?"

Taehyung knelt in front of them, his eyes searching theirs. "Yes. I do. I care about you, Y/N. This stopped being fake a long time ago for me. But..." He paused, his voice faltering. "I'm starting to wonder if maybe... maybe I'm the only one who feels that way."

Y/N's breath caught in their throat. "What do you mean?"

Taehyung looked down at the floor, his expression pained. "I've been thinking a lot about us, and I can't shake the feeling that you're still holding back. Like you're afraid to let this be real."

Y/N's mind raced, guilt swirling inside them. Taehyung wasn't wrong. They were holding back, too scared to admit their true feelings even to themselves. But hearing him say it out loud made it feel more real than ever.

"I'm scared, Taehyung," Y/N admitted, their voice barely above a whisper. "I don't know what to feel anymore. This started as something fake, and now... everything is so confusing. I don't want to hurt you, but I don't know if I'm ready for this to be real."

Taehyung stood up, his expression a mix of frustration and hurt. "I get it. I do. But I can't keep waiting for you to figure it out, Y/N. I need to know where we stand. Because I'm all in, and if you're not... I don't know how much longer I can do this."

The room felt suffocating, the tension between them palpable. Y/N's heart pounded, torn between their fear of getting hurt and their growing feelings for Taehyung. He was right. They couldn't keep dragging this out, pretending everything was fine. But admitting their true feelings felt like stepping into the unknown, and that terrified Y/N.

"I don't want to lose you," Y/N whispered, their voice shaking. "But I don't know if I'm ready to be all in like you are."

Taehyung's expression softened, but the hurt was still clear in his eyes. "Then we have a problem," he said quietly. "Because I can't keep pretending, Y/N. I need something real, something I can hold onto."

Silence stretched between them, heavy and unresolved. Taehyung looked at Y/N one last time, his eyes filled with a mixture of hope and sadness.

"When you're ready to be real with me, let me know," he said softly before turning and walking toward the door. "But I can't wait forever."

Y/N watched helplessly as he left the room, the door clicking shut behind him. The room felt unbearably quiet, and Y/N's heart ached with the weight of everything that had just happened. They had pushed him away, but now that he was gone, the fear of losing him for good settled in.

Alone in the silence, Y/N realized they were standing on the edge of a decision that could change everything. They just weren't sure if they had the courage to take that step.
