Caitlin had woken up with a heavy Katie lying directly on top of her snoring. Caitlin knew that with the National break coming up that Katie will become more clingy, she always did. But this, this was different. Caitlin could almost feel the emotions Katie was holding in as she slept soundly.
Gently and quietly, trying not to wake Katie, Caitlin slowly moved Katie off of her so she could head to the bathroom. Just as she was about to stand up Katie had woken up. "Morning Chick" Caitlin said quietly as Katie adjusted to the early morning. "Where are you going?", Katie asked quite quickly in a desperate tone. "Just the bathroom, I'll be back soon" Caitlin replied almost laughing at Katie's comment.
The next few days were pretty similar, wherever Caitlin was, there was Katie holding her hand right behind her. The whole team knew that leading up to national breaks Katie always got clingy, so this was nothing out of the ordinary, but for Caitlin, she could see the spark leaving Katie's eyes with each day that got closer to the break.
Caitlin wanted to bring it up to her as she could tell this international break was really affecting Katie and she couldn't work out why, but she knew Katie HATED opening up. 2 nights before Caitlin had to leave for Switzerland, Katie and Caitlin were sat on the couch watching a match on the tv, although Caitlin could tell Katie wasn't paying attention. Caitlin slowly moved Katie's chin to face hers and knock Katie out of her trance. "What's on your mind Kates?" Caitlin said in a quiet voice, "Nothing babe?" Katie replied confidently, as she looked away to avoid further questions. "Katie look at me, I know international break is hard for you, it's hard for me to but I promise you it will be 10x easier if you would just talk to me, tell me what's bothering you, I can help you, you just have to let me in". Katie now had tears forming in her eyes, "I Can't " was all Katie said before she burst into tears.
Caitlin had rarely seen Katie cry, a few times when she was homesick and missing her family, once when the whole cheating scandal was happening because she was worried Caitlin would break up with her, but never had she seen Katie cry over leaving for international camp.
Caitlin was now holding Katie tightly as she cried into her chest. Finally Katie settled down, she knew she had to talk to Caitlin about what was bothering her but she hated feeling weak. "Kates I know it's hard, just breath" Caitlin said before Katie started. " I can't tell you what's going on because I don't know" Caitlin looked at Katie with a confused face as she continued. "Whenever international break comes up I just see how excited you get to see your teammates and Macca and Lani, and i just wish I felt that way, I used to love the camps and my team, but now it just feels like there is sides and I feel like no one is on mine" Katie finished now balling her eyes out into Caitlin's chest. Caitlin pulled her in tighter and stroked her hair. " Katie I will always be on your side, even on the other side of the world I will always be there, you will never be alone okay, I'm just a call away, whenever you feel lonely or just want to see my pretty face" Caitlin said trying to lighten the mood, which made Katie chuckle and wipe her tears as she looked at Caitlin. "Kates i don't want you to pretend your okay, while we're away, I want you to call or text when you are struggling don't shut me out" Katie looked Caitlin in her eyes, " It's just" Katie started struggling to find the words. " I see how happy camp makes you, how much you look forward to it, I don't want you to waste your time at camp talking to me and worrying about me". Caitlin cupped Katies face with her hands and rested her forehead on hers. " Katie talking to you will forever make me happy, I will always worry about you, your my Girlfriend, I want to talk to you, I want to see you, you will never be a waste of my time. We are going to go to this camp and your going to call me every night before you go to bed, I should still be up, and if your struggling at any point please.. please just call me, I promise I will be there. I love you Kates.. so much, I'm going to miss you chick".
Katie just nodded as she cried into Caitlin again. "I love you to Cait, I'm sorry for not telling you sooner. I'm going to miss you more than anything".
After a while both girls went up to bed, Katie feeling much lighter after telling her girlfriend what was going on in her head although still very much dreading saying goodbye to Caitlin in 2 days time . Caitlin struggled to sleep that night as she held Katie, she wanted to help her but just didn't know how to do that from so far away.
A/N - My first chapter! I hoped you liked it. I plan on doing a Part 2 to this about saying there goodbyes and on the camp. If you guys have any ideas, please leave them in the comments. I plan on posting quite regularly xx
