Caitlin had been getting a significant amount of hate recently, people commenting on her ability, begging for her to be benched. Caitlin started to believe it, making her want to prove them wrong.
They had a game coming up against Man united in two days time, so Caitlin trained her little heart out trying everything she could to make sure she had a good game.

When the starting eleven came out just before the game and Caitlin was on it, she couldn't ignore the the little voice in her head, telling her she wasn't good enough and she should be on the bench. Katie noticed Caitlin's mood change after the meeting so walked up behind her, wrapping an arm around her, directing her to a side room. "Katie what are you doing" Caitlin yelled annoyingly as she removed Katie's hand from her shoulder, "what's up" Katie said looking into Caitlins eyes as she grabbed her wrist to stop her from leaving, "Nothing Katie, let me go" Caitlin yelled getting out of Katie's grip as she walked away, leaving Katie standing in the room clueless.

Caitlin avoided Katie the whole warmup, it wasn't until the two girls were lined up in the tunnel waiting to walk out, did Katie tap Caitlin on the shoulder, "Did I do something" Katie asked Caitlin who just said no and looked away.

As the game commended Katie couldn't help but notice Caitlin was agitated, just before half time Caitlin went down, hard. She was in a 1v1 with a man united player, as she turned to run around the player she slipped causing her ankle to snap. Caitlin felt it and immediately fell to the ground, Katie sprinted to Caitlin, by the time she got there Caitlin was already standing up, walking it off. Caitlin had tears in her eyes, but as Lia walti tried to call the medics over Caitlin shut her down, telling her she was okay. Katie knew Caitlin was lying, "Cait, your in pain just go off" Katie said gesturing towards Caitlin's obvious limp as she couldn't put pressure on her leg at all. "I'm fine" Caitlin said brushing Katie off and limping in the other direction. The half time whistle went off a few minute later, Caitlin struggled to get off the pitch, tears still falling as the pain was becoming unbearable. Katie walked up to her grabbing Caitlin's arm and wrapping it around her own shoulder, helping Caitlin walk. Caitlin didn't want Katie's help but she also was in to much pain to tell her to go away. When both girls finally got the the changing rooms, Caitlin was still in tears. "Cait you need to go to the medics, your in pain" Katie said looking at her girlfriend, Caitlin wiped her tears and looked up to the roof in hopes it would stop them from falling. As halftime was coming to an end Renae walked up to Caitlin to see if she was able to play, before she could even say anything Caitlin spoke, "I'm fine, keep me on" , Katie heard this and immediately jumped in, "No your not. Your clearly in pain cait, it's not an important game, just take the rest and get your ankle checked. You can't even walk" Renae heard this and decided to sub Caitlin out for Rosa Kafaji. Caitlin gave Katie a angry look, which Katie just brushed off.

Caitlin didn't go out with the team when halftime was over, instead she sat in the change rooms crying. Katie came off in the 60th minute, she knew Caitlin didn't come out with the team after halftime but assumed she was in the medical room getting her ankle checked, when she saw all of the medics sat on the bench next to the players, she immediately walked inside, looking for Caitlin. As Katie walked into the change room what she saw broke her heart. Caitlin was sat in her cubby, tears falling while she stared off into the distance, clearly hung up in her own thoughts, "Cait" Katie said as she opened the door, and walked in. Caitlin didn't look up, just wiped her tears still staring at the wall, "Please talk to me", Katie said sitting down next to Caitlin, placing her hand on Caitlin's thigh. "I'm not good enough anymore" Caitlin said as the tears she had just wiped away came back. "Cait don't say that, your more than enough" Katie said trying to wrap her head around her girlfriends words, "Everyone says I should be benched for Rosa, how am I supposed to prove to them that I can play, when I'm on the bench voluntarily" Caitlin said still staring at the wall, "Cait, your injured, it's far from voluntary. You don't have to prove anything to them. Your an amazing player, you can't compare yourself to others, you have to let yourself heal, if you keep playing while injured, your going to end up with a career ending injury" Katie said wrapping her arm around Caitlin, "Yeh I guess" Caitlin said as she rested her head on Katie's shoulder and let some more tears fall as ankle was still throbbing, "Let's go get that checked, chick" Katie said helping Caitlin up and to the medical room.

The medics assessed caitlin, they were sure it was a break but sent caitlin to get a x-ray anyway. The x-ray came back and caitlin had fractured her ankle and fibula, leaving her out for 6 months. Caitlin and Katie arrived home after the scan, Caitlin hadn't cried since finding out, but as soon as she got inside the tears started to fall. Katie tried her best to comfort her, but she didn't really know what to say. Instead she helped Caitlin to the couch, before sitting her down and wrapping her arms tightly around Caitlin's shoulders, she pulled Caitlin's head to her chest and let her cry, while Katie ran her fingers through her hair.

Caitlin had finally calmed down, "I can't believe you kept playing with a broken leg" Katie said looking at Caitlin who smiled into Katie's chest. "I would've played the rest of the game if you didn't step in, thank you by the way. Who knows what damage I would've done to my leg in the second half" Caitlin said playing with the rings on Katie's fingers. "Of course cait, I hated seeing you in pain, I wish you had of talked to me about the hate before hand though" Katie said as she kissed the top of Caitlin's head, "It's just, I didn't  want you to think I was jealous, I'm not. Rosa is an amazing player, but when everyone was begging for me to be benched, I started to do everything I could to stop myself from believing it, I thought that if I went off, I was just showing them, that they were right, that I should be benched". Katie didn't reply at first just hugged Caitlin tighter and kissed her forehead. "Cait, even if you were jealous, I still would've wanted you to talk to me. I'm jealous of you all the time". Katie said poking Caitlin in the side, lightening the mood. "Thank you Kates, for everything, I love you" Caitlin said resting her head on Katie's chest. "I love you too cait, we're going to get you through this injury together" Katie said looking down at Caitlin, who was drifting off.
