Katie & Caitlin

In January 2020 Caitlin Foord signed for Arsenal, Caitlin needed a change and when Arsenals offer came while she was in Australia with her family she didn't even think about it just said yes. She knew that Steph Catley and Lydia Williams her Matilda's teammates played for Arsenal and seemed to really like it. She didn't know anyone else and at the time that didn't worry her, but as she was walking through the doors to meet all the girls after signing her contract, a wave of anxiety flew over her.

Caitlin had anxiety ever since she was little, she hated being alone, but also around so many people. She was always shy and let other people talk for her most of the time, so meeting a whole group of new people was her biggest fear.

She stopped at the door to the chill room where all the team were hanging out, she could feel her chest tighten and her breathing getting shorter, finally she walked through the doors and all eyes were on her. She hated being the centre of attention and this was exactly that. Steph and Lydia came up to Caitlin  and hugged her making her feel more at ease. Steph started to introduce Caitlin to the team and after awhile everyone was around her asking about her.

Suddenly she couldn't breath at all, her eyes became glassy and tears threatened to fall. She ran out of the room keeping her head down, although she didn't get far before running into a equally red eyed Katie McCabe. Caitlin had seen her around so knew her name but nothing more.
"I'm so sorry" both girls said at the same time before looking up at each other. Caitlin kept walking as she still couldn't breath. Katie who noticed the state she was in grabbed her wrist and walked her to the bathroom. "Hey chick sit up here", Katie said as she gestured towards the sink bench, than she continued to talk to help distract Caitlin. "I'm Katie, you must be the new signing. Arsenals really cool I bet you will like it. Your Australian aren't you" Caitlin just nodded. "Your so lucky i love the sun and tanning but you don't get much sun over here" Katie laughed. Caitlin was now breathing normally and wiping the few loose tears that fell from her face.

"Thankyou" was all Caitlin said as she went to get up. "Hey, wait" Katie said grabbing Caitlin's wrist again, "aren't you going to introduce yourself" Katie said with the biggest grin, making Caitlin's heart flutter as she looked at Katie properly for the first time. She was tan with long brunette hair tied into a slick pony, she had green eyes and the prettiest smile. "Oh yeh sorry, I'm uh Caitlin" Katie laughed at Caitlin, "your cute, let's go back in" Caitlin blushed as she followed Katie in. "are you okay, you seemed upset before, when I ran into you" Caitlin said just before the girls got to the room. "Just tired, you know" Katie replied smiling Caitlin didn't buy, but she also just met Katie so didn't push it.

Caitlin and Katie got closer in the next few weeks, they even started to hang out outside of trainings with there other friend Jordan. Caitlin had feelings for Katie, but as she got to know Katie she found out she was in a 5 year relationship with her Ireland teammate ruesha, so she buried her feelings down deep and kept getting closer as friends.

Not long after Caitlin joined Arsenal everyone was sent into a lockdown, a lot of the girls were moving in with each other since you could only train within your household and training alone would be hard. Caitlin had been getting closer with her fellow teammate Lia Wälti at that time, Caitlin ended up moving in with her for the lockdown.

The lockdown lasted longer than everyone thought and Lia and Caitlin started dating. While the lockdown was a start of a relationship for Caitlin and Lia it was the breaking point to Katie's and Rueshas. Ruesha and Katie were struggling for a while in there relationship but both girls thought it was just a rough patch, Katie had come to training a few times late and in tears from fights with ruesha beforehand but didn't tell anyone. During the lockdown Katie couldn't get away from ruesha, they were in each others space all the time causing major arguments in there relationship.
