Homesick

Caitlin was used to being away from home, ever since she was young she was always travelling for football, than she moved overseas and since than she's only been back for a few weeks at a time. It was hard, but soon it was normal to Caitlin. It wasn't until she started dating Katie did homesickness become an issue. With Lia she was the same as Caitlin, her family lived far away and she hardly got to see them, so they knew no different.  But with Katie, Ireland was only an hour plane flight away, and with all her siblings she was always catching up with one of them in London, Ella one of her sisters even staying with the two for a little while. Caitlin loved how close Katie was with her family, she also loved all of Katie's family members, but that didn't mean it wasn't hard to see Katie hanging around her family or calling them, knowing she hadn't seen her family for god knows how long, and to call at a time where they both had time to speak was almost impossible with the time difference.

So when Katie told caitlin that Ella would be staying with them for a little while again, Caitlin couldn't help but feel lonely, "I can't wait till she gets here tomorrow, I've missed her like crazy" Katie said as she excitedly jumped on the couch next to caitlin who just smiled slightly and nodded, "What" Katie asked reading caitlin like a book, "Nothing, it's just you saw Ella like 3 weeks ago" caitlin said as she went back to scrolling on her phone, "3 Weeks is way to long" Katie said as she leaned on caitlin jokingly, although caitlin didn't laugh, "What's wrong" Katie asked again wondering why she wasn't excited to see her sister, "Nothing" Caitlin said as she kept her head down, "Do you not want Ella staying with us" Katie asked a little hurt, Caitlin finally looked up, "Of course I do" Caitlin said to Katie genuinely, Katie just looked at her as if she was examining her, "Why are you acting weird then" Katie asked still not believing her, "I promise I won't be mad if you don't want her to stay, it's okay, she can stay somewhere else, I just thou-" Katie started before she was cut off, "Kates, I want her to stay" Caitlin said as she stood up and walked out of the room, not wanting to talk much more about families.

Katie stayed sitting on the couch, replaying the conversation in her head, before walking up to Caitlin, "Well me and Ella were talking about going to top golf tomorrow after I pick her up, do you want to come" Katie asked as she sat next to Caitlin who was pretending to get ready for bed, "Uh, nah, I'm okay" Caitlin replied really not wanting to watch the two bond while her sister was half way across the world, "What do you mean" Katie asked hurt, Caitlin looked up and instantly felt bad, "Oh sorry, yeh I'll come" she than said as she got into bed, "What no, I don't want to force you, I just thought you would want to come, it's fine if you don't" Katie said now also getting into bed, Caitlin didn't know what to say, she really struggled watching Katie with her sisters, but she didn't want Katie to think she didn't like spending time with her family, "Well I don't want to crash your bonding time with Ella, I'll just stay here" Caitlin said as she turned her light of and turned her body away from Katie who layed awake wondering why Caitlin was acting so weird about Ella.

The next morning Katie woke up to get Ella from the airport, "Aren't you coming?" Katie asked as she handed Caitlin a coffee, "um, no I have some things to do, I'll see you guys tonight" Caitlin said as she turned around and started to walk up the stairs, "Do you have something against Ella?" Katie asked Caitlin as she began to get defensive for her family, "Katie, no, I told you, just drop it" Caitlin said still walking up the stairs, "You do don't you, what is it, what's your problem" Katie yelled up to the stairs, Caitlin just scoffed now getting offended, "Do you even listen to me" Caitlin yelled at Katie turning around, "Well why would I when your lying" Katie yelled back as she was worked up, Caitlin walked back down the stairs and pushed herself past Katie on purpose as she was standing in the hallway, she than grabbed her keys before opening the door, she slammed it shut before driving to Beth and Stephs house.

Katie stood in the hallway as she started to calm down, still so confused on what the hell they just fought about, before she could think any further she looked at the time and grabbed her keys before getting in her car and driving to the airport.

Caitlin knocked on Steph and Beth's door, Beth opened it soon after, "Oh hey chick, how you been" Beth said as she let Caitlin in, a little confused on why she was here, "Yeh good" Caitlin smiled as she walked in before saying hello to Steph and viv who were sitting on the couch, "So what are you doing here" Steph asked as Caitlin never really randomly comes over, "Ella's here for a little while, Katie was picking her up from the airport so thought I'd pop by" Caitlin said as she forced a smile, "Why didn't you go with Katie" viv replied knowing the two can normally not be separated, "Thought I'd give them some time alone" Caitlin replied smiling as she sat next to Steph, none of them believed Caitlin, instead viv took out her phone and texted Katie, "What happened with you and Caitlin" viv texted knowing katie will tell her, "Is she with you, it was stupid she was acting weird about Ella, she didn't want to come pick her up or hang out with us this arvo, when I told her she was coming she wasn't excited at all, It's like she doesn't like her" Katie wrote as she arrived at the airport and waited for Ella. "Werid? I'll see if I can get anything out of her". Viv than wrote before putting her phone down and turning to Caitlin, "You looking forward to having Ella stay with you Cait" viv asked Caitlin who sighed, "Yeh" she said quietly before turning back to Beth and Steph, who were listening in on there conversation, "You don't sound to happy" Beth laughed jokingly although everyone was thinking it, "Did Ella do something" viv than asked, Caitlin shook her head immediately, "No, no it's not like that, I'm just in my head, I love Ella" Caitlin said smiling before trying to change the subject although she was interrupted by Steph, "In your head about what" she asked Caitlin who put her head down, "Nothing it's silly" Caitlin replied quietly, viv grabbed Caitlin's hand,"It's not silly if it's getting in between Katie and yours relationship, you need to tell her what's going on"  viv said wanting them to go back to how they were, "I don't know, it's just going to cause more shit" Caitlin mumbled making all the girls look at each other, "Caitlin, Katie loves you, just talk to her" Steph said sternly as Caitlin just slowly nodded, "Nowwww" Beth whined making all the girls laugh as Caitlin stood up and thanked them before driving back home. Katie and Ella were now inside, Katie making Ella breakfast while Ella sat on a kitchen stool, "Cait" Katie said excitedly when she saw Caitlin walk through the door, Caitlin smiled before giving Ella a hug, "Hey chicky, how you going" Caitlin asked Ella as she took a seat next to her, Katie smiled as she watched the two get along, wondering what Caitlin's problem was earlier.

After breakfast Ella went up to shower after her flight leaving Katie and Caitlin downstairs alone. "Want to tell me why you stormed out" Katie asked as she took a seat next to Caitlin on the couch, Caitlin rested her head on Katie's shoulder, "Not really" she mumbled quietly, Katie just wrapped her arms tight around her, "Talk, I'm all ears" Katie than said as she kissed the top of Caitlin's head, "It's stupid, but, I guess with your family always being around, which don't get me wrong, I love them all, so much, and I think it's amazing how close you are, it's just, your always catching up with them, or there staying here, or even just FaceTiming them, it just makes me think of my mum and sister, I've never really thought about how much time I miss out on spending with them, until I saw you with your family, I guess it just makes me a little homesick" Caitlin admitted quietly, Katie didn't really know what to say, "Cait I'm so sorry, you should of told me, I can spend less time with them if-" Katie started before Caitlin interrupted her, "No, I love seeing you with your family, it's just sucks mine are so far away, you can't help that, I've got you, that's all that matters anyway" Caitlin said looking up to Katie and kissing her softly on the lips, "Are you sure there's nothing I can do" katie said pulling away, "Positive, I'll get over it" Caitlin said as she cuddled into Katie more, "I love you" Katie said as she kissed Caitlin's forehead, "I love you too"
