Play Through it - Pt 2

Katie had taken over a week off of football, the first few days weren't so bad, she did actually need a rest and it was nice to wake up and lounge around all day. Although now it was boring, and she wanted nothing more than to be back on the field. Her back was still playing up after a week of rest which made her even more frustrated that it wasn't getting any better. Caitlin could tell Katie was starting to struggle with it all, she kept her distance knowing Katie hates talking about her emotions, but as they sat quietly in there room one night Caitlin watched at Katie's eyes didn't sparkle, her skin a different, less vibrant colour, she hated seeing Katie like this. "Why don't you come watch training tomorrow, the girls miss you, it might be nice to see them all" Caitlin spoke up, Katie thought about it, "I don't know, i think it would just make me jealous" Katie said as she let out a laugh and snuggled closer into Caitlin, "Even if it's just for a little bit, I think it could be good for you" Caitlin replied as she placed a kiss on Katie's head before turning of the light and snuggling into her.

Caitlin woke up the next morning and began to get ready for training, Katie woke up soon after and walked down to Caitlin, "Morning, you going to come" Caitlin asked hopeful, Katie hesitated, "Uh..yeh, just for a little bit" Katie than said making Caitlin smile wide and hug her tightly, "Hurry up then, I'll be in the car" she then said as she turned Katie around and slapped her arse before walking to the car, Katie laughed as she went upstairs to quickly get ready.

When they arrived at training Caitlin held Katie's hand tightly as they walked slowly into the centre, everyone immediately rushed over to see her, "Here she is" Leah Williamson said as she brought Katie into a gentle hug, everyone said there hellos before walking out to training, Katie sat on a bench watching from afar. Kyra who was a sub for one of the mini games they were playing walked over and took a seat next to her, "How's rehab going? You think you'll be back soon" she asked innocently, although it really stung for some reason, "Alright, I guess, I kinda wanted to be back already though" Katie said as she scratched her head, Kyra looked at her, "you'll be back out there breaking people's ankles soon, I know it" Kyra said as she patted Katie's back before running back over, Katie forced a slight smile, everyone had been saying that, "you'll be back, I know you will" she hated it, how could they know that, they don't know how she's feeling, they don't know how much pain she is in, as Katie grew more and more angry, she knew if she stayed where she was she would explode, she stood up and slowly walked back inside in hopes of heading home, although she was stopped before she got inside, "Heading home already" Beth asked as she smiled, Katie just nodded, "Your rehab looks to be going well, I bet you'll be out there by next week" Beth joked as she gestured to the field, Katie who was trying her absolute hardest to not flip out in hearing that just looked down, "You okay?" Beth asked as she stepped closer to Katie who shook her head gently as tears welled in her eyes, "I'll get cait, stay here" Beth said before running back to the field. "Hey cait, Katie's upset" Beth said to Caitlin who instantly started to walk back with her, "Upset? Like angry" Caitlin asked thinking about how katie hates to cry infront of people, and instead gets angry, "Uh..no like crying" Beth said making Caitlin look at her confused, "what, why what happened" Caitlin said as she turned a corner and saw Katie sitting down with her head in her hands, Beth didn't have time to answer before Caitlin was at Katie's side, "Baby, what's wrong" Caitlin asked calmly, Katie just shook her head, "Can we just go home" Katie asked quietly as she wiped her tears, "Of course we can, I'll meet you at the car" Caitlin said picking up on the fact Katie doesn't want to talk about it infront of Beth, "Do you mind telling Renae im taking her home" Caitlin asked Beth as she went to grab her things, "Of course not, text me later how's she doing or if you need anything" Beth said as she walked back out to training.

Caitlin walked to her car, Katie was already sitting in the front seat with her head against the window as she silently cried. Caitlin got in the drivers seat and watched Katie, her heart breaking, "Are you in pain?" Caitlin asked softly although Katie's emotions were so bottled up she had to let them out, "ARE YOU STUPID" Katie yelled making Caitlin flinch, and lean back in her seat "IM ALWAYS IN PAIN, IM NEVER GOING TO BE BACK ON THE PITCH, I CANT EVEN WALK AND EVERYONE JUST EXPECTS ME TO BE FINE" Katie yelled out of spite, Caitlin didn't know what to say, she knew Katie was just emotional but what she said hurt, Katie looked up at Caitlin and saw tears threatening to fall, guilt instantly rushing though her, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean that" Katie said imbetween cries, Caitlin just leaned over and wrapped her body around Katie's gently, "I know you didn't and I know it's hard, nobody expects anything from you, we just want you back fit" Caitlin said as she wiped Katie's tears, "My rehab isn't working, my back is still the same, I'm never going to be fit again" Katie said as she cried into Caitlin's arms, "Kates it's been a week, of course your not better already, it takes time, and I know that sucks, but soon you'll see progress and before you know it you'll be back" Caitlin said making Katie put her head down, "I just want to be better" Katie said quietly, breaking Caitlin's heart, "I know you do baby, and you will be, just give it time, I love you so much" Caitlin said as she kissed Katie lips softly. Katie didn't reply, just leaned into Caitlin's touch before she began to drive home.

When they arrived Katie walked straight to their bedroom and hoped in bed, hoping she would fall asleep and shut all her thoughts out. Caitlin walked up slowly after putting her things away, she walked over to Katie's side of the bed and softly sat down, she stroked Katie's arm gently, "Do you need anything?" She asked quietly, Katie just shook her head and she turned her body over to hide the tears that were still falling, "What would make you feel better?" Caitlin asked again, Katie just shrugged her shoulders, Caitlin sighed as she stood up and went to get Katie painkillers and a heat pack. When she returned she walked back over to Katie, "Here Kates" Caitlin said as she handed Katie the painkillers and placed the heat pack on her back, Katie slightly smiled as a thank you, Caitlin nodded and smiled before turning to walk away, "Wait" Katie said softly making Caitlin turn around, "Where are you going" she asked, Caitlin smiled, "Just the shower, why?" She said softly as Katie put her head down, "Can you cuddle with Me" Katie asked making Caitlin laugh, "Of course I can Kates, do you want me to shower first?" Caitlin asked, Katie shook her head and smiled as Caitlin jumped into bed beside her and wrapped her arms around Katie. Katie sunk into Caitlin's embrace and fell asleep to Caitlin brushing her fingers through her hair.
