Team Trip

The whole arsenal team had decided when they had a few days of in a row they would spend it by the beach somewhere, relaxing quietly. Though when the season came around it was almost impossible to find a time when they all could make it. Finally they found a good 4 days where they all could go away.

Caitlin was never into big crowds and even though she was now comfortable around her team she never enjoyed going out with them. Not that she didn't like them, it was all just so overwhelming and caused quite a bit of anxiety for her so it was easier to not go. When Katie had told her the girls had finally found a date for the trip she couldn't help but feel anxious. "Oh um, when?" Caitlin asked after Katie came running in excited to tell her, Katie looked at her confused as to why she wasn't matching her excitement, "well, that's the thing, our game next week got postponed and since we had 3 days off after it, we get almost all next week off" Katie said waiting for Caitlin to get excited, "next week!" Caitlin almost yelled, she thought she would have a little more time to prepare herself for the trip. "Why aren't you excited" Katie asked a little sad Caitlin wasn't as happy as her, "no, that's not, I am, I'm excited" Caitlin rambled not wanting Katie to know she didn't want to go. Katie just looked at her confused but didn't push any further.

They next day at training the whole team was talking about the up coming trip, every group Caitlin walked past was talking about it. She couldn't escape it, "so cait you excited to finally get your tan back" Beth said to Caitlin knowing how much she loves a good tan back in australia, "yeh I guess" Caitlin said only half listening as she started to get overwhelmed with everyone talking about it, "what do you mean I guess" Katie said who was listening as she walked over to them, Caitlin turned to look at her, than looked at everyone walking over to continue talking about the trip, "aren't you looking forward to getting some sun" Steph said to her fellow Aussie as she walked over to Caitlin and wrapped an arm around her. Caitlin just looked at her, she wasn't even listening to her, just focusing on breathing, "I swear she doesn't even want to go" Beth said again as Caitlin hadn't shown any signs of excitement like the rest of the team. Caitlin was now fully focusing on her breathing as she became more and more anxious, Katie picked up on this quickly and grabbed Caitlin's arm, "she's just not looking foreword to spending 5 days with big mouth Beth" Katie said as she pulled Caitlin away making everyone laugh. Katie took Caitlin to the chill room and sat her down, Caitlin wasn't even paying attention to anyone around her, just trying her absolute hardest to not have a full panic attack, "cait, it's okay, it's just you and me, breathe for me babe" Katie said as she grabbed Caitlin's hand and put it to her heart to match her breathing, "I..c..can't" Caitlin said speaking for the first time since being at training, "yes you can, just focus on my breathing" Katie continued to say, before finally Caitlins breathing returned to normal. Katie still had her arms wrapped around Caitlin's body tight, "there you go chick, wanna tell me what's going on in that pretty head of yours" Katie said wiping a few loose tears from caitlin, "I don't really like, spending a lot of time with a lot of people, I'm worried about the holiday" caitlin said quietly to Katie who knew a lot about Caitlin's anxiety, "cait, you don't have to spend every second with them, if you feel like your social battery is run out, or there's to many people around and it's to loud, just tell me and we can go lie down in our room, or go for a walk just the two of us, you don't need to freak out. I've got you" Katie said kissing Caitlin's forehead. Caitlin just nodded although she was still really not looking forward to this trip.

(Week Later)
When the girls all arrived at Mallorca, everyone was buzzing, except for Caitlin. She had only been on a plane with the team and already felt sick to her stomach from her anxiety. Katie picked up on it straight away, she didn't let go of Caitlin's hand and when the group was all standing around waiting for there bags at the airport, Katie pulled Caitlin away to stand alone. "You okay" Katie asked Caitlin who was zoned out trying not to throw up, "yeh, just feeling a little sick" Caitlin said quietly, "like anxious sick, or sick sick" Katie asked worried, "just anxious sick, I'm really not looking forward to this" Caitlin said staring off into space, "hey, we've spent enough time with the team today, how about we go back have a sleep in the room, than we go on a walk just us for dinner" Katie said trying to ease Caitlin's anxiety, Caitlin didn't reply just slowly nodded. Finally when the group arrived at the hotel Caitlin's social battery had well and truly run out, people would ask her things and try to talk to her on the drive to the hotel, but she couldn't reply, her body wouldn't let her, causing her to be even more anxious that the team was going to be mad at her for not answering them. When they got out of the car katie spoke, "I think me and cait are going to go have a sleep for a bit we're exhausted, we might me up with yous later, text me what your up to" with that she grabbed Caitlin who was staring at the ground and walked her up to the room, when they got there Katie sat Caitlin down before sitting next to her, "how you doing now chick" Katie asked wrapping her arms around Caitlin, "I'm sorry" was all caitlin said guilty as she was ruining Katie's holiday. "Why are you sorry pretty girl?" Katie said kissing the top of Caitlin's head who was now silently crying, "I'm ruining your holiday" Caitlin said quietly, "don't be silly cait, I only want to spend it with you, I don't care if we are in this hotel room the whole time, as long as I'm with you", Katie said lifting up Caitlin's chin so she could look at her than wiping the tears that fell, "why are you crying cait" Katie said as she cupped her hands around Caitlin's face, "I don't want the team to think I hate them" Caitlin said quietly trying to look down before Katie stopped her, "are you kidding cait, why would they hate you" Katie said confused, "because I don't talk to them, and I hardly ever go out with them, and now that I'm here, I can't even get myself to spend time with them" Caitlin said angry at herself, "hey, it's okay cait, they would never hate you for that, I'm sure they understand it's hard for you, and if we hang out with them little bits at a time they won't even question us not being with them all the time, you can't keep overthinking little things like this, I know it's hard, but you can always talk to me, don't let your brain spin it out of proportion. I'll always be here cait, you don't have to go through this alone" Caitlin just looked into Katie's eyes as a few more tears fell, "I love you" she said, Katie smiled before kissing her gently on the lips, "I love you too".
