Little(s): Hansol Vernon Chwe (6-8)
Caregiver(s): Hong Jisoo | Joshua

Summary: Vernon is worried for the future and the other members don't understand it.
Joshua does.

A/N: This one's a little bit heavy, emotions-wise. The U.S. election just happened and I am writing this out of sheer catharsis. I am coping and that's what little space is all about.
My comments are not a safe place to debate. I'm disappointed that the U.S. voted against the rights of marginalized groups, period. I don't need your arguments here.
Please remember that we will be okay, y'all. Keep your heads up and keep marching forwards. I love you, little ones.

It was official: America had just elected a new president.

Re-elected, by all technicalities. Vernon stared in horror at his phone screen, hands shaking and throat going dry.

"Oh..." was all he could say, looking in terror upon the map on his screen. The votes were in and Vernon felt helpless. This isn't how it was supposed to go, he thought.

He started to spiral before he even realized it, phone dropping from his hand and onto his lap and he felt a headache come on.

A million thought swarmed his head at once and his breath hitched. It was odd. He had faith that people would do better, that things could become better. That people could have compassion for one another, but clearly he was stupid for thinking that.

His phone buzzed a few times from his lap, but didn't notice. All he could do for a while was stare forwards, wondering if this was an odd dream or something. After a while, he picked his phone back up and dazedly texted the group chat about the result, other members of Seventeen sending a few hug emojis and various sad faces, some only reading the chat and not responding at all. Vernon got the feeling that none of them really knew what was going on and if they did, they wouldn't have to feel the repercussions of it. Lucky them, he guesses.

"They wouldn't know." Vernon got up from where he sat, leaving his phone on the bed. He appreciated their sentiments, but it was a bit different when you and the people you love would possibly have to live with the effects of this election.

Vernon threw on one of his hoodies clumsily and crept out of his room in the night. He's not sure when he started to feel smaller, only that his movements were more broad and his head felt more... floaty. Floaty in almost a bad way. It happened when he got stressed out, dropping into that headspace of a kid. He hated it, but couldn't help feeling that way, especially not now.

He stood outside of Joshua's door, hesitant for a moment. It was much too late for Joshua to be awake now, he probably went to sleep. It's the middle of the night and they just finished yet another tour night, so Vernon should probably leave him alone.

As if Joshua had read his mind, though, the door opened just as Vernon prepared to walk away. Joshua looked tired, eyes saddened and hair messy.

He sighed and looked at Vernon, shaking his head. "You saw it?"

Vernon nodded silently. Joshua threw his hands in the air, opening the door so that Vernon could come in. "Ugh! I can't believe it!" Joshua complained, letting Vernon sit down on the foot of his bed while he paced across the room, muttering to himself about the result.
